Rockport fishing trip...updated

Post by frios »

got my new feelfree 11.5 lure

can't wait for the maiden voyage.

been eyeing several yaks. So many options and choices out there. What made me get the feelfree:
the gravity seat is comfortable
The pedal drive - can just pop in the motor w/out changing out the whole unit.

now its time to catch some fish!

Love my 11.5! Your gonna love it.
I've been debating on getting the pedal drive but I keep putting it off. Sure would be nice on those windy days, which is 90% of the time!

Well here is my RP report.

the maiden launch did not go well :(

I started pedaling and not 5 minutes in, all of sudden I came to abrupt stop. My pedal drive stopped. I pulled up the drive and low and behold the propeller is completely tangled up with line/rope. I guess this was some post Harvey junk underwater.
Wow! what a mess on the propeller. I spent the next 30 minutes or longer taking out all the line from the propeller.

Needless to say, maiden voyage and first fishing trip did not go well.

Saturday back in the water. Still learning the new yak. pedaling and paddling. Gotta pull up the overdrive and paddle. Bad thing about this is I don't have rudder steering as the steering is for pedaling.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the yak. The seat is really comfortable. The yak is super stable. What a joy to stand up and fish!

oh, did I mention...I caught fish! Yay!!
caught a couple 21 and 19 and lost a monster at the boat ( busted my line!).

caught on popping cork with live shrimp.
