Winter wading in galveston bay

Post by Floundapounda122 »

I plan on heading down to galv tomorrow to do some winter wading around the jamaica beach area. My main focus is specs and reds. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe try Jumbile (west of JB). There should be some deeper holes you can target early and some shallow flats you can hit once the sun warms them up mid-day.

manage your expectations. ... while that may seem like 'not a tip', but it is.. going into the day just expecting to be on the water with a little sun and some salt air.. have your goal be to not get skunked but have fun. With those expectations you are likely going to have more fun and relax a little which will help you focus your fishing better and be ready when a bite does occur. Any of the coves have potential this time of year especially with the current water conditions in other bays. Start with a plastic and test a suspending bait, and go back and forth between those... you don't need to change baits a bunch... keep hunting them just like our videos.

have fun.
