Anyone ever camped and kayak fished there? It's a long drive for a single day fishing. I would be sleeping in the back of my truck. Safe? Dangerous? Bad plan? Uncomfortable, yes, but I would think the morning bite there would be awesome.
I would appreciate your comments, TexasJim

Fished there back in Oct 2016 (Link). Not sure how camping would be, but there is room to do so. We did pretty well on reds in the lake on the Kennedy Shoreline. Didn't catch any keeper sized trout, but have been told you need to be throwing topwaters right at the launch.

You could always just sleep in your car at either county pier if worried about safety. I don't think you'd have a problem at site 55 either, but just in case always better to be around people. I've caught some huge trout not far from there... so did tino when he was on this board.
