Mustang Island State Park Area in September

Post by ben_beyer »

I've asked a few questions about the Rockport area and alternatives to Wilson's Cut in a few other threads on here. I'm going to be heading to Port Royal in early September with the family for a long weekend and I'm looking for places to go. I've looked on the map about Kate's Hole and some other spots and just wondering if there is anything on that south end of Port Aransas to focus on?

Since I'll be there with the family, I won't have all day to fish and so I'd rather not haul my kayak up to Rockport though I hope to hit Estes Cove some day soon.

Any tips and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I like the south side of Wilson's cut.. not a lot of people fish it since it's a large open flat. Fish the deepest area of it just inside from croaker hole... it's about 18" and when the incoming tide is coming in there is good current and I've caught a of reds there over the years.

What's the best way to access that?

Launch from the boat ramp at Wilson's Cut and cross over the road?
