Not too Speckled trout

Post by osojet »

Stuck a limit of good eating size specs on nueces bay this morning. One only had a few spots on his tail. Hadn't seen that before. Wonder if it is genetic or maybe I sets the hook too hard and shook the spots off of it

That starry nebula is without its stars.

Do you skin your trout? Saw the skin puller on the cleaning board. Don’t know anyone that uses one for anything other than catfish.

Methinks there might be a gafftop somewhere? Or someone has been catfishing recently. If you skin your trout, let’s hear about it.

No slimy kitty's around here. I cut the fillets completely off the fish, then use those to hold the end of the skin while I remove the skin with a fillet knife. Used to leave the skin attached at the tail and remove the fillet, for me it is faster to cut off all the fillets then take skin off.

You're still fishing

Looks like a baffin trout. Barely any spots

We used to see quite a few trout with few spots at the Galveston jetties. I was told then that it's a trait iof what we called Gulf Trout.

Yanked too hard on that one... jerked his little spots off ;-)

I love the big ones that don't have spots of just few.
