a lot going on there.. that was funny
Re: Red Drum Trying to Break Rod in Marsh
That's one of their favorite tricks, the ol' dive under the kayak trick. Good job on hanging in there. I'm always hoping I'm using one of my fiberglass rigs when the reds pull that stunt. Nothing bends like a fiberglass rod.

Haha... good work. They do it to PB's too.
Re: Red Drum Trying to Break Rod in Marsh
I've often stated that trout are trickier fighters than reds. I guess there is a time and a place where reds can measure up as fighters and that is in a shallow, narrow marsh channel.

Nothing like a little hand to hand combat to get the blood flowing! Good stuff!

Love it! I had one run around the front of my yak and get between me and the shore (about 2 foot away) and then shoot straight out under my seat. I tried my best to give enough play to get my rod back around and then it happened, line snapped! That red still haunts me!

Hahaha If you guys liked that watch this fight with a bull on light tackle. He was doing the same thing but also running under the anchor and the yak at the same time. Was a blast. I always enjoy the finesse of light tackle over just horsing them in.

The thing about Trout is you have to be more careful about ripping their lips. I actually go after reds with my trout rods so I usually use more finesse with both as opposed to just horsing them in. Love some nice top water action on trout though.Yaklash wrote:I've often stated that trout are trickier fighters than reds.
