Hello Fellow Kayakers.
Does anyone know if the kayak area at Shamrock Clove near PA is open? I have not since Harvey and just want to make sure it is open (since it is private property) and that the road is passable.
Plan on fishing it Sept. 23. Thanks.
My kayak on my last trip to Shamrock in August caught several reds. I landed one and is on the kayak if you look closely.

Looks like the road was washed out in a couple places looking at the post storm aerial imagery.

Re: Question re: Shamrock kayak launch spot not boat
you can also use Google Earth, they uploaded the 1m resolution onto Google earth..
Looks like there was actually just some grass debris on the side road (Green).. you don't want to use the main entrance.. that has been a sand pit for years. Don't follow that red line as it's imprecise.. Use either of the 2 green roads.
Short green road is a little work around and should be good caliche base under the vegetation deposited on it. Pics 3 and 4.
Long green road is an Oil & Gas exploration/ facility road. You can drive it and it looks like no damage until you get to the gate area.. you don't want to go past the gate anyway.
BIG NOTE>... Don't leave anything in your cars.. really bad theft spot. Take everything out of car including your phone charger and spare change.. leave the car unlocked.. they don't want the car.. they want shit they can sell on ebay, craigslist, and amazon. etc.

You bet brotha, That's what we're here for.
Re: Question re: Shamrock kayak launch spot not boat
It's open. Went out there today. Found lots of big reds but couldn't get any of them to take my hook. Lots of bait in the water as well. I was just using plastics so bait may have worked better.

Thank You Ryanh1801 for that critical information. Going down Sept. 15 and plan on fishing the 16th and 17 hope the reds are still there. You bring good news that its open, made my day.
