Is it cheating if I already placed my pre-order?
PM me your name and shipping address.
The top of this bait is actually Smoke with black flake, the bottom is Golden bream or close.

What action rod do you fish those with? Would think Mod/fast or fast action

Re: Major TroutSupport Announcement coming This Sunday Night
Very good question. I think you could walk this thing with a med light easy. it just takes a tiny little pusle of energy to walk it all day. Not much rod movement.
Also, while it walks, the fish will hit it with several different retrieves.
Walk
Slow pull with twitch twitch
Straight retrieve (this worked great in the light, looked like a displaced mullet sneaking across the lights and usually got smoked).
Ripped on top for 5 feet or more.
mix it up and see what works. Reds smoke it any number of ways and if they just trail it either give it a twitch or stop it and it will turn and glide back into their face.. sorta cool. I've also sightcasted reds to the side of my boat with the wind high.. the wind caught the line an ripped the bait on the surface over their heads.. 2 times i"ve had reds take chase and run it down after 20' and then eat it. Wish I would have had that on video.
Hooks.. Many are asking me what hook. Any 5/0 EWG Swim bait hook will work but some you have to shape a little. You want the hook point to point directly at the eye of the hook.. many are far too open. Below is just about right.
you don't want it open or too flat.. this slight negative angle keeps the hook above the plastic so when you set the hook it can turn out away from the lure during a hook set. Don't rig it upside down with the hook in the hook slot either. Fish quickly put this bait down and it's pointing toward their stomach as they eat it head first, setting the hook causes the hook to twist out toward the side when this happens so having it a little higher with that angle like below has been working for me.

This is slightly too closed. I'd back this off just a little.

Working from home yesterday, I happed upon that video as he recorded it Live on FB. Quite informative and a must-view for anyone who has (or will have) these lures.Drifting Yak wrote:Here's a video that Tobin just released covering the hooks and other rigging aspects.

The video is great, now if I can just keep from jamming that hook into my hand
Re: Major TroutSupport Announcement coming This Sunday Night
Going to try them out next Friday, gives me a week to watch limit of trout and shallow Reds TS DVD to brush up....No matter how good the lure if you don't find fish your skunked.

Are these still preorder or are they shipping out now? I got a tracking number with my order earlier this week but it still just says label created and no movement.
Re: Major TroutSupport Announcement coming This Sunday Night
I received my order about 4 days after I ordered them. Had to go to Tackle Direct to find un-weighted swim bate hooks
Re: Major TroutSupport Announcement coming This Sunday Night
Went to the lights on friday and the trout killed my bone/diamond/glow. Pulled several with some nice size. One guy was watching me from his second story balcony and asked me which lure I was throwing. He was interested because it had "great action like a wounded baitfish". I told him where to get them
Sunday I threw the texas roach colored one and caught a couple trout off some shell.

Re: Major TroutSupport Announcement coming This Sunday Night
yeah, that guy called me and ordered some.. that was way cool. Congrats and good job on the fish. I did find that the fish reacted very well in the lights to it as well especially pulling the few slightly bigger fish out of the lights. Both walking it and just a slow straight retrieve as well, with an occasional short 'rip' across the top.mmwaggie wrote:Went to the lights on friday and the trout killed my bone/diamond/glow. We are shipping and finally caught up Sunday due to them overwhelming response from the fishing community.shipping wrote:when is shipping starting
Yes, we had some new website glitches to work on through the week.. Think we have most of those worked out and all the orders from last week that didn't ship due to that will ship today. Whew!shipping wrote:I got a shipping notice but tracking isn't updating
Already had a guy bass fish with it and caught 5 over 5lbs ... and a guy caught 10 trout and his personal best 27" trout as well.
Re: Major TroutSupport Announcement coming This Sunday Night
