Anyone own a Native Manta Ray 12 Propel?
Anyone own a Native Manta Ray 12 Propel?
My buddy is interested in a pedal kayak. We went to the Roy's Demo Day in Corpus today, but they didn't have a Manta Ray Propel. That yak looks like a real fishing machine. Wondering if it is round or flat-bottomed, tender or stable? He's a pretty big guy, and needs a stable yak. If I was looking for a pedal yak, I think I would seriously look at this, rather than the Pescador Pilot 12. I would appreciate your views. Thanks, TexasJim

I've been looking at it as well. If he's a big guy, he might ought to go with a bigger yak. The Manta Ray is meant to be fast, not so stable.

Thanks, Ultrastealth. Yeah, he's big guy and had only been in my Pescador 12, and it wasn't a success. After Sunday's Demo Day in Corpus, he bought a Wilderness Radar 135. It's pretty stable, but adequately fast, and the new Helix Pedal Drive seems to be very well engineered. Not cheap, but a great yak.

came across this old thread, guess nobody own this? Besides the Pescador Pilot, these 2 are the only kayaks w/pedals under $2k?

The new Hobie Compass is around $2000. NuCanoe Flint with their drive system would be around $2000 as well.
