I follow a fellow on youtube and he comes up with some simple ideas. One that intrigued me was a simple loop knot about the dead shrimp tail to help keep it on the hook.

Easy way to do it for sure! Once you land a heavy fish and the mono gets another knot it means another breaking point as knots are the first failure in line breaking.
I have a large stock of "Miracle thread" and it works great for shrimp. You can wrap the whole shrimp and keep it longer without fish being biting pieces off.
