Any Ideas how to get GPS cover off?

I have a Fishfinder/GPS combo unit but usually also carry a Garmin Etrex Legend HCx as a backup.

Well the knob that turns to open the battery cover locked up and broke off.

Anybody have any other ideas ? Or any idea what the warranty is like on these? The unit still works but can't get the battery cover off.

so which one broke. I have a Garmin 76 and it has a peg that you have to turn 90 degrees before you pull it out. So if its similar it should work the same way. I just looked at it and it looks similar...doesn't look stainless on the Etrex though. After you make that 90, then you could probably slowly pry up with small screwdrivers or similar. If you can't find a way to make that peg turn the 90, then its going to be much harder.
