Suspicious reports
What's been going on around here lately with all of these fake reports? I had someone hijack my profile a while back on 2cool and had to cancel my account. Someone was copying pics from old reports, and posting them on 2cool as new reports. Seems to be more hackers, and frauds lately than fishing reports. No site is safe. I don't put up reports anymore, and I can see why many of the older TKF members don't either. Damn shame.
Re: Suspicious reports
Noticed them as well, I mean I guess there could be a hacker who just loves to mess with people by posting up pictures of old fish caught by someone else. I don't know why but I guess that could be a thing.

Re: Suspicious reports
also there has always been the kings of "one liners" in where they may 1k posts but 75% of them say "nice" or "way to go" or my favorite "what lure and where?"

Re: Suspicious reports
Call me naïve, but what would one have to gain by posting bogus fishing reports or pictures? Obviously some people do it but for the life of me I can't think of a single reason why. Possibly to earn "fishing cred" or just being a pain in the rear.

Re: Suspicious reports
So friggin annoying. What do you have to gain? Nothing that is what you just look like an idiot! Nobody likes a liar!
Re: Suspicious reports
Well I would guess they think this is going to help them gain acceptance and feel like a productive member. Maybe if they prove they can fish more members will want to fish with them. Then after a few trips, that's when it happens. It's 2am and your sleeping on the beach in a tent next to them, and ...

I was wondering the same thing this week. I don't get it either.

Re: Suspicious reports
Posting up fake reports is tactic by tourney guys to get people away from their honey holes. This was a real problem on a fishin forum I frequented when I lived in KY

Re: Suspicious reports
Not quite sure I follow. They post reports of areas that are already reported to keep people away from their honey hole? If nobody said anything about their favorite place they don't have anything to worry about. A few years back me and 3 buds paid for a full day charter and got patted down for gps devices. I thought that was a bit strange and almost cancelled on the spot, but after the trip was over we understood 100%.walkeraviator wrote:Posting up fake reports is tactic by tourney guys to get people away from their honey holes. The only things I won't share is information that someone else provides me, (it's their spots & their choice to share or not) & small off the map lakes. There are a handful of small lakes the gov built for ranchers all through out the hill country. They dug them for free but the stipulation is that they have to be made available for public use although they aren't required to advertise it. With a small cash donation, typically i'm the only person around and there is NEVER a piece of trash to be found. I plan on keeping it that way. Someone fishing in my favorite spots doesn't bother me nearly as much as lazy a-holes leaving trash & ruining it for everyone.

I'm on it, letting TKFStubb know. Please when you guys see fake reports like this click on the exclamation point and report it so a moderator can check it out. We cant read every post on every topic so extra eyes help out lots.

Re: Suspicious reports
Geez, the guy is changing screen names & photoshopping pictures now. You guys might want to put a post count restriction on the fishing report forum or something. I know that would probably lock me out for a while but it may deter idiots like him from hanging around.

Re: Suspicious reports
True story David but you Tino and Glenn have more than 3 sec of fame. You have epic battles!
Re: Suspicious reports
Between the hackers, potlickers, and clueless newbs, there isnt much of a reason to post reports. Not that internet fishing fame was all that great to begin with.
