West Bay Marshes 10-18 Fun for Kids

Post by DB »

Went out last night attempting to try new flounder light. Terrible water clarity along the bayou. Mirror-smooth water but I was afraid of finding a ray after about 80 yds. so gave it up.

This AM same bad clarity but some fish popping and bait moving. Managed 4 reds all in the 10-14" range in shallow water. Baited up these smallish shrimp from the net and watched the kiddos have some fun.

My best catch was this tiny little speck though. Glad to see that the important function of the marshes as a fish nursery wasn't all that affected by Ike.

I'd figure those fry (probably hatched right around the storm) would be washed out to who knows where ! The surge there was 10 feet !

WTG Dad, the kiddos will enjoy that.

For a little trout, sure has some pretty markings.

Congrats on a good day on the H2O!
