What do yall think of my BTB anchor float setup

Post by justindfish »

Been getting ready to fish BTB for a while and this is one of my last thing I needed and am kind of proud of how good it came out.

You will need the big bright orange float, the more visible the better.

Bleach jugs will work (empty of course!) The handle makes a good tie off point.

Any kind of liquid laundry detergent jug will work great.
Get a big bright colored one.

One question. Will that bungee cord cause your yak to sort of slingshot back and forth if you're anchored in some waves?

Fubar,

Where did you get the anchor set-up you are using, or did you make it?

I think Justindfish's anchor unit looks great, too, simple, easy/easier to use, and probably easy to see.

I haven't gone BTBs yet, but am thinking about it and trying to learn as much as I can before I do.

No. It will prevent the slingshot effect by absorbing wave energy. I want one just like that. I have one that works. I just like that one better!

Those academy kits suck for BTB use. They're okay for bay though. They'll work for a little while. But after a while they will break. The second time me and Jolly Roger fished together, we were anchored up when his broke. He was sleeping when I noticed him floating away. I let him get downstream a ways first before I woke him up!

I like it, should work good. If it does rubber band to much just shorten it. But looks like it will work good.

Just like the one I use, except mine is yellow.....another visable color. The bunge cord is a great aid, too.

How much line do you put on your anchor?

My anchor line is 30 ft. and so far that has worked in the bays and BTB. When I go BTB, I do carry more line in case I should get into a wind and/or current that would require more line. But as stated, so far 30 ft. has always been enough.
