Re: Towing trailers

This is a 4x8 with yakima cross bars attached via bolt down brackets with mako saddles and j-cradels. Undo 8 bolts and the system comes off though I never disassemble it. There are many others out there.

Re: Which Castng Rod...

I like the American Rodsmiths Champion series, Tops and Tails model. I was there today and they are on sale for $59.00, I think they were originally $79.00. Quality rod for the price.

I am a professional chef and have used many many knives... Wustof is my favorite. I agree, however I don't use it for Redfish. When it comes to trout and flounder, I could not imagine using anything else, and it's on sale for a great price. http://www.cutleryandmore.com/details.asp?SKU=2480" o...

Re: Anyone from the houston area

Should have met up with me on Saturday. We caught a bunch of undersized fish along with a few keepers including one really hungry little redfish. Most on top waters some on killer flats minnows. Maybe next time.

Legal or not, what is the purpose of keeping something that small? There is not enough meat on those bones to make it worth cleaning.

Re: Sargent

Sleep during the day, fish the lights in the creek at night from 12:00 to around 4:00. Just make sure that the lights you are fishing are not being fished by someone on the dock. The dock owners can turn real ugly when they catch you taking "their" fish. I also agree with the currents in m...

Re: Would you fish tomorrow if it rains tonight?

It wouldn't stop me unless there is lightning along with the rain. I have had some really good trips in the rain. The only problem is that summer storms usually have a lot of electricity.

J-Cradles

Yakima, Thule, or Malone?? They will be mounted on a trailer and will take a slight beating from time to time when going down the beach. The thought is to use the j-cradles towards the outside of the bars and a stacker in the center to carry up to 4 kayaks. My concern is strength, not only of the cr...

Re: X-Factor Capacity

I sold my F&D a week or so ago, maybe to Mythmans buddy, it was a bare bones boat, no hatches, I know it would handle my buddy but I spend my time in the bays and bayous. The x-factor has to paddle better than the F&D due to the length. It will not be my full time boat but when I have people...

X-Factor Capacity

Thinking about adding to my fleet. I have a friend that likes to fish but is to heavy for my WS Ride's (old style). Water gets in the rear hatch and down it goes. My questions is, can an x-factor handle a 400lb+/- person without the hatches going below the water line therefore filling the boat w/ wa...

It's hard to beat the knowledge that a guide can pass on to you if you are open minded and willing to learn but you don't have to hire a guide. Plenty of good fishermen fish Matty and if you ask, most won't mind showing you the ropes. Just watch the board when your trip gets closer, someone will ann...

Not to early, just pointing out that the conditions in Cedar Lakes may not be the best when you get there. Here is a picture of what I ran into 2 weeks ago. This area usually has 12" to 24" of water over it and we have had some decent north winds since I was there.

I would wait until the water returns. Tides have been really low and those areas are shallow to begin with.

Jay61.I'd bet he wouldn't catch as many. The sensitivity of a high end rod lets you feel that soft bump you can't feel with a $30 dollar rod.I started upgrading my rods this past year and can tell the differance. I second that, and I'm not talking about a high end rod. The difference from a $50 rod ...
