Will never happen that way...BUT
Maybe if you shoot for a no boatage of any kind weekend you will gain some traction.

Surf wading/long rods
Hey, we're headed to Port A this weekend for a bachelor party. Is it worth my time to bring a trout rod for the surf? Also, what are you guys catching bull reds/shark on off the beach with the long rods?

Re: Colorado River Trip?
I like 969 to Bastrop. I've done that overnighter I think 5 times now. Fishing is good imo. I take my aluminum boat and fish above and below 969 at least once a month as well. Bastrop to Smithville is a two nighter for me, but I've only done it once. I've done Bastrop to Smithville as a one-nighter...

Re: Colorado River Trip?
Austin's Colony to Little Webberville park is a great stretch of fishing. It's doable in one day, too. The camp (hog island) is definitely closer to the take-out than the launch, though.
edit: You can set up a shuttle with Cook's Canoe's in Webberville, too.

Re: Granger Lake
Seen some gator gar on Granger here and there. Lots of 2-3' spotted, too. The San Gabriel River enters into Granger lake on the northwest side. If you put in at the Primitive Launch mentioned in a previous post and take a left on the river you can fairly easily get to the mouth. Long paddle, but doa...

Re: Granger Lake
There is a primitive launch on the San Gabriel River that is okay for kayaks. When going north on 95 take the first CR to the right after the bridge over the San Gabriel. Go down a while til you hit a true 90 degree turn to the left with a caliche road to the right. Take the caliche road. Go slow, i...

Maui Jim
This isn't so much about kayak rigging as it is a shoutout to the makers of my favorite fishing/kayaking glasses. Bought a pair of Maui Sports a little less than 2 years ago. While on vacation in PR a few weeks ago I noticed stress cracks at the connection of both lenses to the nose bridge. Sent the...

Re: Kayak paddle found in Colorado River at Smithville
Last Wednesday I found a kayak paddle stuck in a brush top in the Colorado river at Smithville, downstream of the TPWD boat ramp at HWY 95. If you lost a kayak paddle in this area, please send me a private message describing the make, model, length and color of the paddle and I will sadly return it...

An update: Went ahead and pulled the trigger on the new Curado. Got the 6.5:1. Loving it so far, but have only had the chance to fish saltwater. Smoothly casts a mile, and has handled decent fish in river current well.

Thanks for the re[ort on the upper stretch. DNR tells me the beach at Hog Island has grown larger than he ever remembers it being. I am not surprised at the beaver sighting as I have seen two further downstream. Okay, I'm glad to know we're not crazy! Hog Island has definitely changed since the las...

Re: Colorado River Dogs Annual Memorial Day Trip
Getting excited about our own little trip. The kayak has been packed and ready since Tuesday for our Sunday put-in...just in time.
Two questions for the group:
1. Are they currently releasing water for the rice farmers?
2. How has the fishing been on the Colorado lately?

Re: Bed extender and po-po
Was pulled over 4 years ago with a bed extender, sent home with a warning. Immediately added magnetic tail lights (tied them down with tie wraps) and haven't been pulled over since, though I've passed many cops. My thoughts are they can probably give you a citation if they're bored, but probably won...
