Count me in. If the conditions are no bueno, I plan on bringing my light gear for some bay action.
Sound fun, thanks for organizing.

Re: stingray hits...
I got tagged several years ago and would not wish that experience on anyone. I used to go on all day wades; I would take a backpack, gear, water etc. and walk for miles. It was some of the greatest fishing experiences that I have ever had but I stopped doing it because of a bad stingray experience. ...
Re: Fish ID??
We used to catch them by the bucketful as kids. They look cool when they are swimming...kinda like flying. I'm thinking that's where they got the name.

Re: Spinning reel....What do yall use?
I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 or so decent reels. I like them all but always end up using a Stradic. I have four and they are my "go to" reels 90% of the time. They take a beating, stay smooth for a long time and need little servicing. Super reels.

Re: Hobie Mirage drive failures?
A couple of years ago, I had a chain drive go out and had to paddle the beast (PA 14) back to shore. I was using an emergency canoe type paddle. The wind was crankin and it was, shall we say, a great workout. Luckily, I was only about two miles out and coming in. I was way out earlier in the day and...

Re: Catching A DINOSAUR Alligator Gar From Kayak
I made the same trip last June and ended up with three gar, 60-80#. Nothing huge, by gar standards, but still a great fight. It was my first time there and, like you, I loved the TR...was on the water for about 8 hours and didn't see another soul all day. I saw a few REALLY big gar; they seemed almo...

Update: Since the surf was not cooperating, I decided to rain-check my 48 hour pass and man the family grill.....again. I am now in the middle of about six zillion in-laws. Is fun...except when a certain brother in-law decides to show up on my turf( the back yard). He's like Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Rodg...

400 lb mono
My neighbor just gave me a big roll of 400 lb mono and a nice crimping tool. He fishes for tuna, marlin etc.
I have only used wire leaders and was wondering how well this stuff would work for king leader material. This stuff is seriously strong.

Re: Anyone been down the llano river
We got there from time to time. It's a great place to paddle. Fishing is hit or miss but it is still the beautiful place it was. If you have any flexibility, try to hit it when the water level is up...as with all places I guess.

I like it. I use a similar app for all kinds of things at work. It's simple and keeps from having to re-invent the wheel over and over...again.
