Re: hanging it up

It would be much easier to feel sorry for you if you didn't have a long history of spouting ignorant racist remarks on this site at every possible opportunity. I was going to post a much nastier response but decided against it. I must be getting soft. Do stay active. A sedentary lifestyle is about t...

Haha, throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one who gets hit yelps. You are free to smile and remind yourself whatever you want. have made that side of the Refuge very popular with the bank anglers. Not that this is a bad thing I almost always consider an abundance of "shore birds" to be a bad thing, but then again I am the voice of negativity on TKF these days. If you need some examples look at Rollover Pass or th...

Nice work. Those bonus black drum are great eats and a nice reason to throw bait instead of lures for a change.

Hook penetrates the wire insulation and shorts the light most of the time.

Doesn't help finding speck rigs all over your dock either. Hopefully not finding them with your foot.

Re: Topwater Lure

I like a Spook Jr in clown or bone holographic. If the water is very calm a baby skitterwalk is nice, and the fish tend to inhale it and make it less likely to toss the lure, which tends to happen a lot with tops. Since everyone is telling their favorite top, those are mine. However, you asked what ...

Re: Jighead for 3" Gulp shrimp?

If you're not using screw-lock jigheads you might as well be throwing away plastics. I like the longer shank jigheads personally. I've heard the whole "more action" from a shorter shank but I don't buy it. The action (at least on a paddle/curl tail) comes from the very end of the lure. The...

Re: Christmas Bay fishing with North Winds

Victory at Sea (Bay?) conditions. Even the E. end at the condos launch would probably not be enough to protect you. My vote would be to stay at home and enjoy the cool weather and do some yard work. If you just have to get out to that area, at least Drum has the old ICW spoils and many reefs/islands...

True dat. Fall can make any fisherman feel like a pro. Reds swarming the marsh and nearshore, flounder running, trout putting on weight. Good time to be a fisherman on the coast. Good info above. Very light trout bites tend to be the norm. Braid can help you feel them a lot better. Clear water can m...

about 800m down from Rettilon Rd...hit the beach and make a right This, and go until you hit the barricade. I must not be crafty as I don't recommend the N. Jetty launch for pocket access.. You will have to go quite a ways to get to the water on the gulf side, and it's very shallow for a long ways....

Yes! Some never leave the bays at all. Most do move out though, and this early they stage a lot on the bay shores and start moving down towards the passes. With another good front or two (this weekend?), "the rodeo" will be in full effect in the channel though. I did see one nice one and o...

Tandem rigs are great... Until you break one off and have to retie.

The only time I will use them is if I am throwing small lures for trout under the lights or early-season spanish mackerel and I need more weight to cast. Neither are around snaggy areas so no problem.

I have seen people dropping their yak off at the beach access trail next to the little bridge just before going in the gate at SWP but they did it fast and had two others to carry it down while the other drove away fast so no one saw them. Sly like a fox. That's the way to do it, and there are actu...

Good points all around. Well, except for the guy complaining about PBs blasting by. I would much rather they do that then draw out the process by idling or worse yet half-throttle and still take too long while throwing up a huge wake. Honestly, I would have thought "tourney cheater" first ...

Not a big BTBer or tourney guy for that matter, but I have fished that area a lot, and I did stay at a Motel 6 last night. That being said... If you are scared of 2'ers, the N Jetty will provide protection from waves as long as they don't have too much E in them. Your second date is approaching the ...
