Grinding a new lake

The FLW/KBF Cup was an absolute grind, but I will say Lake Ouachita is a beautiful lake. ImageImage

Building confidence

I try to work on improving a couple of techniques that are new to me or I don’t have a lot of confidence each season. This year one of them is the wacky rig. Confidence is improving.

Big ugly

Caught my personal best black drum while I was in Florida doing some sonar charting. Port St. Joe/Mexico Beach was devastated by Hurricane Michael last year and it changed what the charts look like. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190615/d621d8c63b40fba95ead9ebdb385d0ba.jpg Sent from my iPhone us...

FYI on SonarChart Shading US release

It’s finally happening! I’ve had a lot of people ask me about depth shading for Navionics charts and I’ve got an answer for you. Navionics is releasing an update in May for Hot Maps and Platinum+ charts that will include SonarChart Shading, 3D underwater relief mapping, and updated Sat Overlay image...

Diverse

Salt marsh is a diverse ecosystem. I caught a largemouth, stingray, and redfish within 150 yards of each other. The largemouth and redfish on a gold spoon, the ray on a popping cork (I wasn’t moving the cork, I had a tangled mess in my boat) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190418/b399e26d7c236c29...

Re: Buddy system

I think it would be welcomed to have more details about how that happened. :? Narrow creek arm, about 10-12 feet of water, just outside the no wake zone. Angler was fishing a lay down on the bluff wall, had the bow of the kayak facing the bluff wall. Swamped from the stern by wake. Sent from my iPh...

Buddy system

First tournament of the year and an hour in and one of the guys in my group gets swamped by a bass boat tournament launching from the same ramp. Fortunately the only thing lost was some equipment and a little time. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190403/20c49b74b0e7f53e3d040f5dfeba9f4e.jpg Sent f...

Change up

This time of year I usually fish a shallow slough and catch decent fish. I’ve thrown the same bait in this area for a few years and it has produced some personal bests for me. I’m a firm believer in reproducibility, so I keep good notes, use the same tackle/line/rod and reel. Weather is tracking abo...

Inhaled that one! I like the color on that bait. What bait is it? Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk I’m not sure if the color. Jenko makes the bait, I picked it up at Academy. I’m using an Owner screw lock swim bait hook that has the willow leaf blade attached to it. Sent from my iPhone using Ta...

Fun day, good weather, get out and hit the water

Caught 12 today in about 3 hours. Fished were stacked up around the rocks, using them for current breaks. Water temp was 54 degrees, fishing in 8 feet. Good clarity for a change, they were angry at the 1/2 ounce football jig. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190205/5827eabc24f5378183670abce34ca493...

I love fishing it in the winter. It can wear you out, but I usually catch some decent fish.

Alabama rig

Got on on Guntersville and did some A-rig fishing. Found fish hanging around the edge of milfoil in 8-9 feet of water. I threw parallel to the grass following the 10’ contour line. Biggest fish was 22 inches. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181221/e3eead0267b16d6409654f48ef9d38a7.jpg Sent from my...

Re: Crappie time

I've caught quite a few on fly rod and tiny whistler (blue is the color for night) on Grainger and L. Georgetown - also from a sailboat anchored overnight in a cove on L. Travis. The boat always drew them up. very good eats and fun photo. On our recent coast trip, my dad told the story about four o...

Crappie time

Crappie fishing time here in Bama. I caught a few today on a Bobby Garland “glacier” color jig on 1/16th ounce jig head under a small cork. What’s your preferred crappie fishing method? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181129/2e86e855321a8cfce0feaa7a258f90f3.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
