Re: Sigh, Here We Go Again!
Ahhhh, corporate nitpicking! Only the lawyers win!!! Too bad, I liked the sound of "Truth Reels". I don't own one but probably would if I didn't already have 6 of another brand. I used one for a few months when they were called "Release" and it functioned well.......in fact, very...

Re: Does 2 ft. Make a lot of difference?
Two extra feet make a big difference in paddling in a straight line, in speed and usually weight capacity. The longer a kayak the faster it is and the easier it is to paddle without the bow wagging from side to side. The shorter a kayak is the more maneuverable it is and usually the lighter it is. S...

Re: Garage ceiling storage help
I am not fully understanding your space dilemma, but in 99% of the cases, you can not hang a kayak between the garage door and ceiling..............just not enough room. I have always had to go between the garage door (when opened) and the back wall and hang the kayak crosswise across the garage. ht...

I, also, pretty much limit my fishing to "ice cream" weather/surf/wind/wave days!!!texnomad wrote:"whole lot more fun peddling 2-400 yds offshore, anchoring and sitting catching fish all day." Now that sounds a lot better to me except for the surf entry\ exit.

Re: The 65+ years old thread.
Been watching this thread, so I guess I might as well join in...............I will be 76 years young in a couple of weeks. I didn't get into kayaking until age 65 and since then I have had a total blast. The first 3-4 months into this sport, I was a bay fisherman, then I heard about BTB................

Re: Best bang for my buck...
You will want something with at least a 550-600 lb weight capacity. Factor in your weight plus the weight of all gear, seat, cooler, etc. You don't want to exceed about 70% of the stated weight capacity, otherwise performance will suffer and you'll be pushing the safety limits. Demo if you can, and...

Re: Gaff use
I have been using a gaff on bull reds for years. Don't use a lot but primarily when the fish is hooked deep in the throat. Reason, often when trying to lift a heavy bull red into my PA 14, the weight of the fish will tear the hook out. I figure my gaff and 15 inch vice grips do one whole lot less da...

Re: hanging it up
I know my time is coming, some day.............but thankfully I am still able to do the kind of fishing I like, BTB. Next month I will be 76 and do notice a slight lack of endurance. It's not the fishing that tires me but that dang 2-2 1/2 hour drive to get to the Gulf to fish. I really, really hate...
