Re: *****BOB HALL PIER - BTB, June 29th, SATURDAY, 2024*****
Blake: Sad to report that I will not be able to make it this year. To those going, good luck, tight lines, and stay safe. Blake runs a great trip and anyone even remotely interested in BTB should take the opportunity to go out on this venture. The safety in numbers, the way the more experienced look...

Re: Night fishing - night of Mon. Apr. 29, 2017 - West Galv. Bay
It was indeed a great night to be on the water. Work and kids have kept me busy, so I have not been out on the water as much this year. Shoffer sent me an email on Monday and said he had a window so I jumped at the opportunity. When I launched, it took all of two minutes to tell that I was having ru...

Not often do I think a 13 mile kayak trip would be worth it, but you have convinced me otherwise. That shower and lunch were well-deserved.

Re: Ingleside on the Bay - March 10th, 2024
As I read the first part, I started wondering what the survivability rate was for a trout with a jighead in its throat would be. For this one, I guess the answer was 0%. At least it made it to your frying pan instead of becoming some lucky crab's dinner.

Re: San Luis Pass/Titlum Tatlum
Churchill is one of my favorite kayak fishing spots. I’ve had more Texas slams there than anywhere else I have fished.

San Luis Pass/Titlum Tatlum
We launched on Saturday at noon from San Luis Pass and headed into Titlum Tatlum. The tide was out and there were lots of shallow spots (more on that later). The boat traffic was moderate, but significant. I picked up a 15" flounder at the bend but it was probably the skinniest flounder I have ...

Re: Warmer temperatures and night bite
Went to pirates cove. Started around 8 finished up about midnight. Not a lot going on, managed 2 slots a few dinks and one trout at 15” Not many lights on. One of the nice homeowners with awesome overhead lights had fish spraying bait out of the water, eased over to check it out and the old man com...

Re: Warmer temperatures and night bite
Good luck and let us know how you do. I am pretty sure Jamaica Beach is near impossible to lauch out of and at Sea Isle we either launch from my buddy’s backyard into his canal or at the boat ramp and just lift our yaks iver the chains.

Re: Warmer temperatures and night bite
Where are you planning on fishing? I was in the lights a few weeks ago and managed an undersized trout and a slot red, but it was cold as shit and I didn't stay out long.

Re: Arroyo Trip
Sounds like a nice trip. I have a Waterloo Phantom, but I will say without hesitation that the Waterloo Salinity is worth the extra bucks. It feels more sensitive and at least when I bought mine, has an ergonomic shaped cork grip. I've also become a big fan of the Mansfield Knockers, but I learned t...

Thanks for a fantastic report. I have only been out once in the past three months, and it was a wade fishing trip in Port Mansfield. I haven't had a kayak out in a year.

Re: Jones Lakes 8-Oct-2023
Nice report Dave and bummer about the bent drive. My son’s Hibie has the old school non-turbo fins and I have used them from time to time and while it is noticeable at first, over the course of a fishing trip you just kind of forget and just keep fishing.

Re: golf course ponds and lakes
When I was a kid there was a luxury apartment complex that had a golf course and they let kids fish the ponds on Mondays when the golf course was closed. I think I fished those ponds over a hundred times. Fifteen years later when I was working as a bartender, I learned that one of my regulars was th...

Re: Non Stop Speckled trout Action
Great informative fishing report, Kyle. I envy you because I haven't been fishing in about 5 months, stricken with a severe colon infection (Diverticulitis) that made me unable to walk or exercise until my gut doctor intervened two weeks ago w/ the strongest antibiotics on Earth. Totally lost my ap...

Re: Matagorda Rig Question
Late reply but no there's not a rig there. Maybe something underwater but nothing visible. The posts are correct about one being 5 miles down the beach and 2 miles offshore though. Be safe out there if you go, tons of sharks every time I go! Even had one ram my kayak when I was bringing in a macker...

Re: New to Kayaking
With these kayaks being 31" wide, would it be wise to get the outrigger pontoons>? I'm thinking they would be similar to training wheels on a bicycle. If it is a good idea, which manufacturer? I think my Hobie Revo is around 28” wide and it is pretty stable. I did turtle once though when a red...

I have no idea about the kayaks, but they look great and appear to me to be based off of the Outback, but 30” seems narrow to me.

Re: Old Town PDL or Hobie Mirage drive for Galveston West Bay
I have paddled and pedaled. I was a paddling purist with a T160 and swore I’d never become a pedaler. I now have a Hobie Outback and a Hobie Revo. The Mirage drive is a game changer as far as kayak fishing goes. I fish West Bay and Sea Isle a lot and absolutely love the Hobie.
