Re: Grilled bacon wrapped fish filets
Fourth, based on 54Bravo's question above, I precooked the bacon in the oven for 12 minutes at 300 and then let it cool, before rolling them up. You could pre-cook the bacon but unless you're using a really hot grill the bacon should cook at about the same rate. Nice mention on the skewers and that...

Grilled bacon wrapped fish filets
Pretty descriptive title but I'll go ahead and tell you how. Cut the fillets the same width and length as the bacon strips, wrap the two together and use a tooth pick to hold together. Put on the grill until done. You can add a slice of jalapeno, onion, or pepper to add flavor but it's really not ne...

Re: Smoking woods
During the winter I'll use mesquite because of the heat, but during the summer I use elm. It's very dense and burns nice and slow. It also adds a light smoke flavor which is perfect in most cases.

There are many more companies than those you mention, not to mention free plans on the web. It could even be home designed.jackh wrote:Yes, I'm meaning does it look like a set of plans available online someone is familiar with. I've looked at bateau and JEM and didn't see something quite like this.

Re: Hybrid NL Duck Boat
Nice job. Whats the dimensions & weight? 11' long, 44" wide. Heavier than my 13' OK prowler, not sure how I can get an accurate weight. When I weighed my pirogue I weighed myself on the scale, picked up the boat, and then weighed it while I held it. Subtract me from the weight and that was...

PM Real Big Reel. He built a yak a while ago out of balsa and it's in the builders forum if you want to take a look. He bought the biggest pieces he could, but I don't think they were that big.

Beans - beans - beans - beans.
For those that are old enough you'll remember that song, but this is about how to cook them. You'll need a 4 quart or bigger crock pot to do this. 1 pound of dry kidney beans and 6 to 8 cups of water to start. Put them in the crock pot and set on high for at least 2 hours. If planning on going out t...

Re: My Redfish cooking is Blah
Last time I cooked it was without the skin and no red meat. We've got a decent sized smoker and I know how to use it. :D This will work better with a lay down smoker but can be done with a smudgepot style if you don't have a choice. Start with a sheet of foil doubled over for thickness, large enough...

Re: 2 Gauge shotgun video
I think that's what they call a punt gun. Made to be fired from a punt for waterfowl (a large row boat). In another video, they had one strapped to a row boat. It's a shoulder fired shotgun, not a punt gun. The punt guns were basically a cannon that would take up to 2 lbs of shot and could break th...
