Re: THATS A RIVER MONSTER || GIANT ALLIGATOR GAR
Very nice. That brings back some great memories. Back in ancient times like 1976 my old Port Arthur bud and I use to catch em like that in Sea Rim State Park. An old lady back in Port Arthur would give us 30 cents a pound for them if we cleaned them. Ever use an axe to clean a fish. In between Gar w...

Where could a person find those spinners? I have not seen those. But maybe due the fact that have never sought them out. Looks like a great and productive addition. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Martin Dies Jr State Park - Screened Shelters
Thanks for posting. I have not been up there in a while. Used to fish it alot its right down the road from some property we have. Caught some nice fish in Sandy Creek Park Area. The lake record was caught there about 15 years ago by one of the TPW biologist and came in at 12-13 lbs. If you get bored...

Re: Hauling Yak
New guy here as well. Went out and got the one at Academy. Works great and I opted for slide in bed as well. Better on my old back. Had it reversed and on top but in a wind and loading up by yourself it was a little cumbersome. This way it just slides in. Welded together a cross piece out of some 1 ...

New guy here too. This conversation brings back some memories now. That whole bass-red thing is pretty cool. Back when I was a cementing and running tools, we would cross the Intracoastal by a diesel powered cable drawn ferry on Gum Cove Rd. South of Hwy 108. Exit I-10 between Vinton and Lake Charle...

Re: Anyone built a pirogue?
Have built 4 in the Uncle Johns style. I don't think you will go wrong with that design. I would use 14 feet as the min. It will not be as stable as a modern yak but after a few minutes you will get the hang of it. Sit as low as you can and still be comfortable. Tag up up if you have any questions. ...
