I don't really fish the corpus area but I'm curious about the winter fishing from a kayak. Just wondering if it would be worth a try with the weather this coming week if anyone could maybe fill me in?

Caught a few trout in the open water between the launch and italian bend and everything shut down once the rain set in Sent...

Advice needed for tomorrow
Going somewhere on the mid coast with my dad early tomorrow for a day trip in the Yaks. We live 2 hours away from anywhere near port aransas so I'm not real sure where to hit up with the heavy sse winds. I was thinking about POC and possibly lighthouse lakes and maybe looking around at Rockport to f...

Re: Sarge Customs
Sarge's customs are about as good as it gets, man. The hassle is the lightest rod I've ever held. Not to mention his great customer service. If the sarge is what you want, don't hesitate. It's a great choice

3 mile lake question
My buddy and I are going to madagorda with the kayaks this coming tuesday. With the wind looking to be in the 20mph range, we're looking to fish a marsh area to cast at reds and get out of the wind, not to mention the all day high tide that is on the charts. I wanted to try out 3 mile lake, but am n...

First time out
Took a trip to Palacios this weekend with my family, brought the kayak. Our friend with a boat hauled me and my kayak to the marsh where I fished early Sunday morning. Right away, on my 3rd cast i was gifted with my first catch out of a kayak. An 18 inch redfish. After i released him, i paddled back...

Re: Buying a kayak, which should I get?
Honestly, whatever you find used that is in good condition and will work for how you want to fish will be just fine. When you buy used, you may also get some of the accessories that come with it. If you buy a kayak without anything, you'll end up spending around $300 for the rest of the essintials g...

Re: Buying a kayak, which should I get?
I have the perception striker 11.5 and i like it so far. The only complaint i have is the way too shallow built in rod holders behind the seating area. Nothing a tapered piece of pvc can't fix tho. Plus you can stand on it with a little bit of balance. I think they are in the $500 to $600 range at a...

Palacios fishing opportunities
I will be making my first kayak fishing trip this weekend to Palacios with my family in the travel trailer. It's the first time I get to use my new kayak. Looking at Google maps, there are 2 sets of marshes and back lakes within a couple miles of each other west of Palacios. The only way i can get i...

Bayous, marshes, and other wind blockers
Hello all! I have noticed that every time I'm at the coast to fish, the wind is in the 20 mph range and it is miserable to fish in the open. Now that i have a kayak, i was wondering how one could find one of these "wind beakers". To be honest, I'm more interested in fishing these areas in ...

First kayak
After a year of looking and being distracted by other shiny things, I have finally sealed the deal and bought a used kayak. It is a Perception Stryker 11.5, and came with a yak gear manta ray seat. Other than that, it has nothing aftermarket. Does anyone else have one of these and can tell me what I...

Kayak help
This may be a weird question, but would anyone in the Baffin Bay Area be willing to rent out a couple fishing kayaks? My family is taking a trip to Riviera next weekend to fish and we are plagued with the absence of a boat or kayaks and always end our fishing trips without success. I looked for kaya...

pescador 12 vs prowler 13
I'm just getting into kayak fishing and have found two kayaks in my price range that I am considering. These two can both be bought from academy and are relatively close in price, the pescador being $550 and the prowler being $700. Of these two, what would be the best choice for fishing the flats? I...

Re: New to site and not even into kayak fishing quite yet
Thank you guys..I really want to start out with a used kayak so I can get the most value out of it. I would like a 12 foot wilderness system or ocean kayak for around $800. I'm not exactly sure what model I want, but I'd probably consider anything in that price range. Especially if it's a feelfree m...

New to site and not even into kayak fishing quite yet
Hello all, my name is Ty and I've decided that I want to start fishing with my own kayak. I am 15 years old and have yet to buy my own kayak. I joined this site knowing that it was the best decision I could make to get into this activity. I have been a member of 2cool for a couple years now as redki...
