I was there two weeks ago. I didn't catch any fish, but also was unable to get in a boat. The camp sites are great! I would bring plenty of bug spray, and your own boat. They have canoe rentals, but the park wouldn't let them out due to high-wind advisory. Even though we wanted to stay in the slough!

That's the Guadalupe River, at Rio Raft's ramp. I went down there to try and bag a trout. Didn't work.

I'm by no means an experienced paddler, but I've done some white water rafting before, and camp out/hike plenty. If y'all are putting together a group and don't mind taking someone with my limited skills, I'm off work May 6-19
