Re: Diving and fishing (Update)
I'll be back no doubt, but it may be next year. Probably around mid June if I can get a decent weather window for three days.

Re: Diving and fishing (Update)
Thanks Glenn. My sister tagged me on Facebook with some underwater footage that she took. You will probably be able to view it. When my YouTube video comes out, I'll have a lot of footage of the very bottom and all the fish living there from top to bottom.

Re: Diving and fishing (Update)
Well, my sister and I started out at the Bob Hall rigs. Man was that a long haul out there. It was a beautiful kayak/sail day, but the fish were not going to work with us AT ALL. Second day we went to the helipad with fishing gear and scuba gear. The water doesn't look anything like it did a month a...

No that's not it. The thumbnail is of a sunrise with the helipad in the picture. Video is my sister, daughter and I on a Hobie Tandem Island with some snorkeling and fishing.

Diving and fishing (Update)
Well I'm going to make the drive one more time this year. My sister is excited to scuba dive the helipad. We will be down on North Padre from Saturday to Monday. I'm hopeful the water clarity is as good as it was on our last trip. Bob Hall pier rigs Saturday evening, helipad Sunday for scuba diving ...

Re: Hobie Ti or AI fishermen
It was a great trip out with my sister and daughter. We had to work for it, but we caught some keeper snapper. Not sure where the kings were as my sister hooked only one that got off just under the kayak. My sister did catch three Cobia on this trip, first one was probably a keeper, second one was v...

Re: Hobie Ti or AI fishermen
Alright, We have a date. Looks like we will head down there on July 21st Friday and fish the evening on North Padre at the heli pad. Then a long day on Saturday starting around daybreak, with a possible morning trip out on Sunday. The plan is to be on the road by noon on Sunday for the 10 hour trip ...

Re: Hobie Ti or AI fishermen
Sounds good. I'm retired now so I just need a weather window. My sister has some training days coming up, but they are spread out pretty good and shouldn't get in the way. When I've got a date set I'll let everyone know.

Hobie Ti or AI fishermen
Hello all. This year I'm making sure I don't miss the Kings. I'm watching for a weather / surf window starting mid next week. My sister and I will be headed to North Padre , from Oklahoma, for some BTB fishing. Last time, mid October, I was only able to get her into some red snapper, but I've promis...

Re: Ahem - have you seen the water temps?
I've been waiting to see a fishing report. My goal is to get my 72 year old mom out of Oklahoma and in Gulf for her first King Mackerel. Should prove entertaining. lol

Re: King? Report
Well we did make it down, just had to do a last minute schedule change and come down on a Friday Saturday due to flat sea conditions on those days and it going to pot on the early part of the following week . Friday evening my sister and I had about 2.5 hours to kill before sunset so we went out to ...

Re: King? Report
The sea conditions just keep getting worse, so we are currently adjusting our time frame. Looks like we will be driving down there on Friday and go offshore Saturday. 10 hour drive and a long ways to go for a day of fishing, but it is what it is.

King? Report
Hello everyone. I was just wondering if the King Mackerel are still in the area? I'm taking my sister on her first King Mackerel fishing trip. We will be starting our road trip from Oklahoma on Sunday to Corpus, head offshore on Monday. I would like to try the helipad area, but if the surf is too ro...

King? Report
Dad and I arrived in the Corpus area on Sept. 30 and after checking in at a local motel we jumped back into the truck to find some salt. It was around 5pm so it wasn't enough time to hit the MP rigs and I've always wanted to check out the Packery Channel area so that's what we did on the first eveni...

Re: King?
Thanks Glenn. I just booked a motel not far from BHP. Looks like the game plan is a quick evening trip to the MPR Wednesday evening after checking in, Thursday will be the PINS a good part of the day, and Friday morning maybe the backwaters north of Packery Channel boat ramp for some flounder, trout...

Re: King?
That's a bit of good news I didn't know about. Thank you , I wasn't sure what temp made them turn tail and head south. Wednesday through Friday are looking really good. Thursday the winds are a little on the light side for my liking. I'll be on a Hobie TI. Thanks for the Information.

Re: King?
Thanks anyways. Just like the surf reports our plans change just a quickly. I'm pushing my trip off until later in the week and it looks like my Dad will be going with me instead of Mom. I'm hopeful that I can hit the Corpus area for Kings, but if the surf condition are too questionable then I'll hi...

King?
Good evening all. Does anyone know if the King Mackerel are still around the Surfside, Tx area. I was planning on coming down to Corpus early next week, but the conditions look WAY better at Surfside. I plan on taking my mom out on her first King Mackerel trip in my Hobie TI. I'm 51 and I really did...

Beach access policy 8-17-2020
I saw on a website, Visit Corpus Christie, that as of 08/17/2020 beach road access has been opened back up with some limitations such as Access to Zahn Road is closed, Bob Hall Pier is closed, beach access south of Bob Hall Pier is closed, Padre Island National Seashore is closed. SOOOO, my understa...

Re: When the surf is rough
Thanks Bwells and Earl. Earl If I knew how to chase those striper in Texoma I'd be there also. I've gone twice now, once in a paddle kayak and once in a bass boat. Got skunked both trips. I'm tempted to take my Hobie TI down to Texoma, but realistically, I SUCK at striper fishing.

Re: When the surf is rough
Thanks for the information. I wish I could make it down before the Kings head south, but with the sea conditions and my commitments, just not sure if I'm going to be able to pull it off. I had planned on coming down this coming weekend but I saw the sea forecast called for 5 foot seas and a warning ...

When the surf is rough
Hello all. I trying to figure out some viable options for getting out into the Gulf near Aransas Pass or Corpus Christie area when the surf is rough, but the seas are doable. I fish from a Hobie TI and I'm not a rookie. I live in Oklahoma so my research is restricted to online information. I noticed...

Re: Corpus with dad
Thanks guys. Glenn I'd be glad to go fishing with you. I'm sure it would help me on my learning curve. I've been given the green light to go again in mid September. Only, this time I'll be coming down with my sister whom loves the outdoors. I believe the average catfish is the biggest thing sh...
