Re: New Hobie Oasis

You're thinking right...you may be getting an outback for both of you if it goes good but she can try it out now with you to see if she likes it. You may have to take it out a couple times to see what you want for rigging. It varies from person to person. It will also depend on what you'll be doing....

Re: Trying to decide on my first kayak

I've had my PA in shallow water that paddle kayaks have a problem with so I'm not sure what is meant by it not being conducive to any water...could you elaborate please. If he was talking about portaging it across the ground when the water gets too rough or shallow then he's spot on...you will pull ...

Re: Post your trailer!!!!

That trailer is going to be perfect. I got an LED set of lights at etrailer.com that work great and it's a good idea you're using a center light. We didn't but just ordered it the other day. For unistrut you might ask a buddy in construction if he could get you some. We use a lot of it in some MEP t...

Re: LED lights for kayak

This is an old thread but there's some good info here. Has anyone compared the Wildcat to the SuperNova? Seems like everyone is dumping the Wildcat lights but even though the quality isn't perceivably as good as SuperNova they seem like they would stand up quite well. So I got a set of Wildcat on cl...

Cool, you unload at a ramp. That's nice. I doubt you need a roller, it's more for setting the nose on, grabbing the stern and pushing it on.

Re: New to Kayak fishing looking for a fishing partner

Stop by Mariner-Sails in Dallas of 35 between Royal and Walnut Hill if you're in need of equipment. They host a working man's tournament on Thursdays from 6-9 pm. The next one will be at Marine Creek in Fort Worth. It's a small lake near the community college. Last week the winner had 71" total...

If someone has a deck from a damaged boat, or something like that, let me know. I'd rather not remove mine but will if I have to.

Re: Got a new PA 17t

Awesome! I thought I was going to have to ask them to hide that 17t when we came in but fortunately my wife chose the PA14. But she still wants the tandem. I installed the rubber rollers (they look somewhat hour glass shaped) from Academy and added them to the back of my trailer so I could sit the n...

Redesign front hatch for Pro Angler 14

We just returned from our first kayak fishing trip with our new PAs in the river at Beaver's Bend. Awesome! My wife and I are hooked. She landed a 17.5" trout along with some others. It rained a fair bit so the water was very cold and the banks were muddy so I found myself exiting the front ove...

Re: Hobies

We finally got to slime our boats! Some good friends took us to Broken Bow for some river fishing. My wife landed a 17.5" trout and a had 5 trout (and 4 that got off) and one Sunfish. 2 trout were 14". So it was the first time on a river, first time to fish out of the Hobie PAs (except for...

Did a last minute PM about Marine Creek today. I'll try to plan a bit further ahead next time and post here.

Beautiful evening but nothing was biting.

Re: Harbor Freight boat trailer wheels upgrade?

My trailer had small tires and I cut the fenders off and replaced them with larger fenders so I can use 13" tires. That way, I can always get tires when I'm out on the road easier than the 12" trailer tires.

I'll be interested to see what you think about it.

I was talking with a friend this weekend and he said he is selling his Outback. My wife said she really wants it, so maybe I'll work something out with him. I didn't know he even had one.

Re: Theft Prevention

Good info Ron. I'd love to store them in the garage but the Harleys are in the way. We like our kayaks better so we've talked about getting rid of the Harleys.
Either way, we had a sunbrella cover made that is UV blocking for now.

Re: Theft Prevention

Here's a couple things I'm working on for theft protection. We bought 2 of the long cables and tied them through the scupper holes on all 4 kayaks; one at the front and one at the back. Although I relieve the pressure on the hold down straps, I still leave all the straps attached to slow them down a...

Re: Hobie PA 14 to Outback?

I had the same dilemma when I went to get my kayaks. I also have the desire to paddle at times so my solution was to buy a PA14 and a Ride 135. To me, each have their own strengths but it doesn't mean they can't be used in other capacities. What about the PA feels big, loading and unloading or maneu...
