Re: Shark ID
Looks like a sandbar shark to me. Only way to tell is if it has an interdorsal ridge. If it does then it's definitely a sandbar. If not its probably a black tip or spinner.

Re: Corpus Christi Duck Hunting Question
I definitely plan on doing just that. Seems like the best option to get the most reliable information after researching quite a bit about it. Thanks for the response!

Corpus Christi Duck Hunting Question
Hey guys I've posted before in the BTB section of this forum and just got into kayaking this year. I've begun to look at other opportunities I might have with my kayak since I'm in such a great area. The main thing I'm looking forward to getting into more is some Gulf Coast duck hunting. I've hunted...

What do you use to pull up snapper from the rigs prof.? I'm hoping to take a long time friend out tomorrow or Saturday for his first time and would like to try to pull up some snapper when we get to the rigs.

Re: Open invite. Tuesday BTB on PINs
Would love to get out there with ya but I don't have a 4x4 so if you plan on going and distance down the beach I'd have to decline...unless that is me and my kayak can hitch a ride with you at the PINS entrance let me know!

Re: Titanium spining reels
I saw these a while back when I watched a youtube video about the guy who makes them catching a huge tuna that broke off somewhere along the northeastern coast if I remember correct. If I ever decide to drop some serious cash on a reel, I wouldn't mind picking one of these up and giving them a shot....

Re: Kayak Help: 13 Foot vs 15 Foot Kayak
I have a trident 13 and a prowler 15. The hulls are a little different which I'm sure makes them a little different to paddle, but the 15 footer is significantly more nimble and more of a pleasure to paddle. If it had the rod pod I'd only use that boat. Seeing as I do BTB fishing though it's a littl...

Re: Y'all missed some good fish and a demanding paddle Saturday
It was a little discouraging I must admit but primarily because my lures weren't snagging any fish. It ended up being more of a lesson though than a discouragement. I learned that my hardheadedness needs to be beat into submission sometimes, especially when the Master Jedi is slaying kings and I'm n...

Alrighty sir. I'll plan on being out there around the same time or if I'm a little later I'll meet you at the end of the jetties. I PM'ed you with my phone number so I can keep you apprised of my situation if anything changes.

Hey Prof. I'm thinking about joining you. I have tomorrow off and am looking for another excuse to get some fishing in before leaving for a week and a half. What time are you going to be at the launch?

Re: Too hopeful?
I say start with what you got and upgrade as you can. I wouldn't have upgraded so fast except for the fact I missed a run or two while trolling since I didn't hear my Abu's go off cause they lack a clicker. This could have been remedied though by mounting some rod holders in front of me so I could w...

Re: MP 7/15 quick report
Had a fun time out there with ya Tagdog and Fishsoup even though it wasn't a really productive day. ...I paddled out into the headwind anyway, but it took me two hours just to reach the first rig. There was so much scattered weed that trolling was not worth the effort...Those conditions were the slo...

Re: BTB Pins Report 7/14
You CAN BTB alone, and you did. The shark didn't bite you or get hostile toward the kayak even though you were chumming and creating an environment for that behavior. The big mako that rushed my kingfish a while back made me feel uneasy, but as soon as it realized I was there, it backed off and wai...

Gonzo! I plan on being out there Tuesday morning for the same reasons and cause it'll be my last time to go out for the next two weeks since I'll be out of town. Lemme know what time and where! I'm down to try PINS sometime since I've never been there but MP is always good :) definitely more options...

Re: Yet another- COBIA Tactics
I just use the same ones I use inshore. 3"-5" soft plastics of various kinds but I primarily use swimbaits (the paddle tail kind). I've caught a lot of bonita, smacks, and even kingfish on the same soft plastic swimbaits you use inshore. After a couple fish they get pretty torn up when you...

Re: Yet another- COBIA Tactics
I think mono is key and you don't have to worry about them biting through the line really. Just a soft plastic swimbait or just about any other soft plastic will work a lot of times. Cut mullet or other cutbait work good too. Sometimes they want one specific thing and other times they'll take about ...
