Re: GBRA to Drain Remaining Lakes
While I do understand that the dams need MAJOR work to remain safe, this is another instance of the River Authorities being totally and completely untouchable by the public. The directors are appointed by...the Governor, and they answer to...the Governor and only the Governor. LCRA has grossly screw...

Re: San Gabriel below Georgetown
I did that same trip a few weekends ago. Did not go past the deep pool where the houses were though. Did lots better fish wise the weekend before...the water had become stained the second trip. Am told that with the water moving, you can put it at the park in G-town and make the trip down to the cro...

Old Town Topwater vs. Bonafide RS 117
Considering these two boats. Not my first kayak, but getting back into the paddle over the pedal. Have had OK Trident and Big Game 2, as well as the Hobie PA 12. Not looking for a BTB boat, just something to enjoy the rivers. Anyone have any first hand experience with either of these?

Re: I do like a swimbait
I find it funny that now the rage is "swimbaits" when it is mostly a shad imitation. That is what I grew up fishing with, was my father's favorite go-to lure to use. The sizes were not as varied as now, but I remember my favorite one was a two colored, gray and white, that we could only fi...

Re: Lake Bastrop Need Suggestions...
We fished the 'Strop on Friday before New Year's...was cold and wind, but managed 6 fish, biggest was 3.6 pounds. Most were caught at the discharge, using a white lipless crank or a white swimbait. Did manage a small one up near the boy scout camp.

So have you used the Garmin yet? I had one and found it super easy to use, it boots up fairly quickly, and has a clear picture. To me, one of the better values out right now.

Re: Rod and reel opinions
I've used the black max reels for 5 years now. Only had one out of four completely fail on me, probably due to not cleaning it and using it every time I fished. Was my 2nd baitcaster and I really wish Cabelas would put them on sale again for 25 like they did 3 years ago...should have bought more. I ...

Re: Colorado River Access
RiverSchool Camp is still a pay for access place, but you have to take into account the wier dam that is just downriver from the camp. I was at 183 yesterday and the access is no tas bad as it has been previously. You have to park on the road, but they have a maintained trail to roll your kayak down...

Re: Colorado River Access
973 to Little Webberville is a good float, not alot of access points in between. If you had access at Austin's Colony, I would put in there and fish up just a little and then go down. I would do the run from 973 to Little Webb with you if I have enough notice to set it up

Re: Hobie PA 12 or PA 14
I run the PA 12 for my fishing fun. Could use the extra room the 12 offers in the front hatch but for river fishing cant beat it. Have been on a 14, only in the salt, inshore fishing in Maui. Also used the 17 there. Both seemed extremely stable, but the wind caught each of them even more that it see...

Re: Help for visiting bass/trout fisherman
Fished yesterday at Huaco...caught only one trout, but it was a monster at 19". Not the little stockers that I was expecting, but only saw two other trout caught and they were small. Not sure why it was so slow; they stock every Friday according to the schedule. Anyway, stopped by Rio Guadalupe...

I used to hit the stretch at 183 until the powers that be F'ed up the access. Usually now hit the 973 area or go to Big or Little Webberville. Would also be interested in heading down your direction for some new water
