bravos River

Four of us will put in on the Brazos at the hwy 16 bridge below PK Dam on May 17 for a 3 day/2 night run to Rochelle’s at hwy 4 and the river. We invite others to join us about 11a.m. At the bridge. Hopefully, the river conditions will be hospitable

Re: Colorado at Weberville

Our highlight of the trip was seeing a bald eagle. I had never seen one before in the wild. We saw plenty of duck and deer, and we were serenaded by owls and a few coyotes.

Re: Colorado at Weberville

Had a great trip. We were the only yakkers on the stretch from Webberville, to hwy 969 bridge. There was plenty of flow and we made very few short drags.

I like it out there. It brings back memories. One of the favorite things is seeing the stars at night. The viewing is much different from the suburbs

Colorado at Weberville

A few of us are considering doing a trip on the Colorado next Friday, putting in at Weberville, and taking out hwy 969 bridge. The river at Bastrop, is showing 1860 cf/s. Help! Give us a little coaching, please. How is that volume of flow to navigate, how are the camping sites, and is 2 nights on th...

Re: Upper Brazos

Rochelle's will also shuttle your vehicle downstream and let you paddle down do it for a single day trip. It is not in the canyons but should be fun.

I didn't answer your question about paddling upstream against 1700 cf/s. It would be very difficult. In fact, I don't think you could paddle up the rapid under the bridge. Maybe you could drag on the sides, but to go more than a mile would be too difficult. There was a 30 yr old man w/his young son ...

Re: Upper Brazos

we did fish with no catches. There were quite a few fishermen on the river and I only know of one fish being caught. It was a young teenager and you could hear "I caught one!" for a long ways.

Re: Upper Brazos

We put in about noon Friday. The river was high and quick. They told us it was to be about 1500 cf/s over the weekend. We had a fine time. Our three day trip turned into a two day trip. The speed of the river put us on a fast clock and it was difficult to find decent get out spots. I have done quite...

Upper Brazos

My son and I are putting in at hwy 16 on the Brazos Fri at noon. That is, if they close the flood gates at PK Lake. I spoke to Rochelle's today and they expect it to be closed tomorrow. As of now, the discharge is over 8000 cf/s.

River Trips

The Brazos is flowing 98 cf/s at Graford, below PK Dam and the Colorado is at 345 cf/s at Bastrop. It's time to get a trip together, maybe for the third or fourth week of March. River Dawgs need to respond.

River Flows

The USGS Texas Streamflow site has some shocking flow rates. The Colorado River at LaGrange, is at 83,400 cf/s and the Brazos has rates in excess of 60,000 cf/s. The flow rates earlier in the weekend were little, if any. I suppose this was due to the backup of flow from the ocean surge. It finally c...
