Re: Very new here help me !!!
Hey Zipper Welcome to the addiction! Do yourself a favor, save up another $150 for a Pescador from Academy. Or see if you can find one used closer to your budget on the classifieds section here, or craigslist. You will be very happy with that kayak. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31CvB%2BBTo...

Re: Old HL&P discharge San Leon
Duramax, I'm in San Leon as well and have been itching to try Dickinson Bay out. There are two spots that I know of where you can launch. There's a boat ramp near Top Water Grill, and then another one under the 146 bridge, not sure how secure a vehicle left there would be though. Oh yeah, and the ra...

If the wife didn't already have plans for us I'd be as easy as you Uncle Vinny! But think I'm going to go BTB Thursday so spending time with the wife Wednesday is not questionable! Ahhh ... the blessing of bachelorhood. ;) Completely understandable SK. Don't think I'm ready for BTB yet so...

Re: Flush or Deck Mounts ?
Thought I'd post an update. Ended up getting a single flush mount and put it behind the seat and left of the back hatch. This is for the ya gear light pole. Decided to hold off on the rod holder for now. Like most here I did get a milk crate (wally world) which I had to trim down the corners so it w...

You've got me beat. Haven't fished since before my dad passed back in '96 and then that was fresh water, and up until a couple of weeks ago had never been in a kayak. (and have two now!)

I definately get nervous when I have the drill in hand and the bit gets closer to the boat.
Will absolutely be using the suggested cardboard template!

Re: Flush or Deck Mounts ?
In regard to the Scotty mounts the difference in height is drastic so I prefer the flush mount Scotty mounts. Even on a just cosmetic appearance, it just looks more streamlined. So what is on my list? Scotty Rod/Reel holder, another scotty flush mount just behind my seat for the YakAttack light pol...

Re: Flush or Deck Mounts ?
Hi Vinny, I have used both on different boats. The first time I went with deck mounts because I was nervous about cutting holes in my boat (drilling was hard enough). Then I went with flush mounts because I was starting from scratch and wanted the best possible (for me) setup. I went with the flush...
