Any recent updates on the Brazos flow below PKL?
I have paddled Brazos just south of Lake Whitney to Dick's canoes about 8 miles downriver. I want to see a different stretch of the Brazos, and was wondering if now is a good time with current water conditions?

Re: Fall Overnighter 2015
I have only paddled San Marcos once, that was the beginning of last month. Bridges and a lot of access points seemed to be still recovering from damage sustained from the rains back before summer started. I have fished the Brazos twice right below Lake Whitney, and that is some great bass fishing (h...

Re: First trip to Brazos below Whitney ?
I have called and called but can not get a hold of anyone at Dick's. I do, plan on going from the Dam, and take out at 2114 with a vehicle staged nearby. Would not mind paying 6 dollars to park, would rather do this than paddle back and drive several hours. Has anyone made contact with them recently...

New to fly fishing. Already addicted to tying my lures.
I acquired a fly rod/reel setup a few weeks ago. Practiced using it, went to the brazos river and caught some bass. Long story short, I have tied half a dozen streamers, 3 frogs. One of the streamers I have, I glued on a small/medium fish skull baitfish head, this lure designed primarily for hybrid/...

Re: Getting into flyfishing
I just recently became able to call myself a fly fisherman. Long story short, I acquired a 7wt outfit, and got a few flys I thought would be good for bass. Well, then I set it up to use, and started practicing the back cast and overhead cast. I practiced casting the first day with it, until I couldn...

Please post a report and pictures (if at all possible). I will probably be returning in a few weeks and want to be set (with more information than I had the first time)

Re: San Marcos River outing
JHB I will try that next time. I ended up putting in at the bridge at Staples (where Caldwell County begins) on FM 1977. It was a beautiful stretch of river. I caught 1 small guad, 1 warmouth, and I hooked into a 2.5ft spotted gar. I had to leave early due to my mother being placed into the intensiv...

Re: San Marcos River outing
tubers are out in full force. So many bridges allowing access are closed. Going to try cr103 and try my luck there. Colorado river and lady bird lake are by back up fishing spots this trip. Haven't found a good place to launch on San Marcos yet

San Marcos River outing
Me and ole girl are hitting up the San Marcos River Tuesday morning. Heading out of east Texas tomorrow morning, and staying the night tomorrow, to rise and hopefully have a good morning and day on the river. I have never been, but hear the fishing is good. I will provide a report.

I have not done any serious catfishing in many many years. I will fish for whatever is willingly to take a hook.

Love my Pflueger president. So many good options to choose from. Shimano make really good and affordable ones, Abu has their Cardinal, etc. I will have to recommend Plfueger based on my experience with it. Very smooth, very dependable. I believe I payed 50-60 for mine.

I would hate to make the 10+ hour drive just to fish for 2 days and not an adventure of a lifetime. lol
Thank you for the advice about rough canyon.

Thanks for all the input. The trip appears to be on hold for this year, it seems. Although I will be enjoying my angling hobby in other rivers and waters.

I am an hour south of Tyler, but am 25 minutes from the spillway at Lake Palestine. I too, would love to go on a catfish expedition, if a good work schedule permits.

Great pics. I went to Raven first time in 2013 and haven't been back, but I foresee a trip on the way to Corpus, or on the way back, this summer

The last time I fished Fork, I was but a learner.
Now I am the master. haha, all jokes aside, when everyone heading there this year? We have some late cold fronts probably pushing back the spawn some.

Re: Diablo amigo vs nucanoe frontier
I have a Nucanoe Frontier 12. I am a bigger guy, 285lbs 6'2. I like the stability, and that is probably it's greatest attribute for me. It is not difficult to paddle, however you will not move like you would in a Jackson Cuda. The NF has a lot of deck space. I can only speak for the NF, but your bes...

I'm thinking about heading out there this weekend. This will be my first trip out there. I've heard nothing but great things about Purtis Creek. I am sorry I am seeing this late. I have had a good time every time I have visited Purtis Creek, whether the fishing was productive or not. Watermelon red...

Re: Del Rio/ Devil's River
Jackh,
Thanks for the info, and the links. That TPW video is one I have not seen, despite my research attempts for articles and videos.
The more I read about it, the more excited I am getting about going down there.

Re: Del Rio/ Devil's River
I can help. First, you will need to secure a shuttle from an TPWD approved vendor and permits. You can find that info here: http://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/devils-river/river-trips" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I'd suggest you run Del Norte to Big Satan. 2-3 nights will...

Re: Nucanoe Frontier12 too much for me
I have to admit- I sure wish I would have demo'd one before I bought mine. It's been a huge disappointment so far! :x I did a ton of research and read all of the reviews on the stability of this barge; and, like a noob fisherman to a late-night 'banjo minnow' infomercial, I was sold! I mean- for Pe...
