Re: G. Day from Aussie

One of my friends went to Australia years back, and he was never considered or called a "Yank". He was a Texan, and they know and acknowledge the difference. People in the State of Zulia, in Western Venezuela, where Lake Maricaibo is, call themselves the "Texans of Venezuela", b...

Re: Protecting kayak bottoms with clearbra

Have you looked at keeleasy tape? It's designed for use in water but won't cover your whole hull but is good to protect specific areas of the bottom or where ever you need I use Keeleasy on my Hobie Outback, have it run in the entire keel plus some bits around the nose Ive had it on now for 1.5 yea...

Re: Post your ride!

The missus is showing an interesting in kayak fishing, and drooling over all these Jackson Kayaks has somehow developed a neural pathway from the impulsive part of brain to my wallet. I've now got that little voice in my head, saying a nice flash and shiny new Jackson Kayak like the Big Tuna, will a...

Re: Anyone use a sail on the kayak BTB?

Question I'm putting out there.

What's the longest distance you have sailed on the kayak, what type of sail and what type of kayak.

How often do you use your sail also and do you see it as a benefit to your fishing?

Cheers

Re: Anyone use a sail on the kayak BTB?

To me it looks like a good down wind sail. I don't know anybody that has used one, but there are cheaper ways to harness the power of the wind. An umbrella is also a likely candidate. Having a rudder on your kayak makes it easier as well. Umbrella's can be a pain in the butt to use for sailing, tri...

As I said guys, Us Aussies are an inventive lot and wish I could claim credit for this but I can't. I found this on a search for local Aussie kayak fishing forums. This isn't me, haven't met or communicated with the person involved but it is as funny as piss when you read through it. http://www.akff...

Re: 2hp on a Cobra Fish n Dive - Is it worth trying ?

I don't see any problem with it. Not that I have done it, but like you say, I have seen a number of people use electric trolling motors without any problems. My only concern would be where you locate the gas tank, and what happens if you turtle in the surf. I do know if you tow a FnD behind a ski b...

2hp on a Cobra Fish n Dive - Is it worth trying ?

Guys Just testing the waters on this one, haven't done it before ! The cobra fish n dive is a wide kayak and designed to take a motor mount. On occasion I may run a 30 pound thrust electric motor, which works when the current isnt too strong. I have only used it on lakes and rivers ( not off shore)....
