Capt Jack, do you think the tarpon 16 would be faster than the K1 style that cobra makes (made).
I've yet to paddle either boat.

Re: Kayak Race
I don't know the lengths, but would you allow surf skis? They are a SOT, but much faster than a fishing style SOT.

Re: Vehicle Breakins at Shamrock
That stinks, I wondered how safe that place was (I figured anywhere around the coast was bad). I was there on the 29th, but there was a lot of vehicles there, and people fishing around the vehicles.
I have had stuff stolen out of my truck before, it's a bad feeling.

Corpus Bay or Surf?
I haven't fished the surf yet this year, been staying in the bay between Shamrock and Packery.
I haven't been doing too great, would I stand a fair chance in the surf on PINS (only 2wd truck) or do better in the bay this time of year?

Woodbender,
That's a cool paint job on the solo.
I saw your pictures over on TBH and was trying to figure out if it was a Spencer design or who.
Are you going to take it to Sea Drift?

Re: Babes on the Bay tomorrow, crowded in Rockport.
Vehicle traffic will be really bad in Corpus with the Beach to Bay relay.
Guess I'll wait for another weekend.

I used to do pretty good years back in the Bolivar Pocket, Galveston Island SP, and San Luis Pass (if you are not familiar with SLP it can get dangerous quick)

Re: Rigged out my "New" Scupper Pro
After added the flush mounts, I decided it needed a rocket launcher.
I had some spare bungee cord and used it to secure the rods. It's kinda hard to see in the picture, but it's the black loops on the holder. Just pull it over the reel and the rod cannot fall out if I was to turtle.

Re: Rigged out my "New" Scupper Pro
I found the only place possible for the flush mount holders behind the seat and they just barely fit there.
Put a Scotty mount in the front and to eyes up near it, one for a paddle leash and the other for a rod leash.

Re: Rigged out my "New" Scupper Pro
I then added some new bungee to the tankwell and added clips to end of cord as well as hooks to hold the bungee cord so I would have more options invade I need to add something more bulky in the back.

Re: Rigged out my "New" Scupper Pro
After adding the rudder I added bungee cord the the bow so I could keep my net and measuring stick within reach, yet secure.

Rigged out my "New" Scupper Pro
I recently picked up a SPTW that was in good shape, but needed a few things. Having had a SPTW before, I had an idea of what I was wanting to do with it. First thing was to figure out a rudder system. I didn't find anything that seemed like it would work. So I had to fabricate it. I used an aluminum...

Re: O K Rudder Dimensions
If I remember correctly, the scupper pro has a 1/4" dia hole that is just under 4" long. (this is on my "new" sptw, I think the older ones had a larger hole)
Or are you referring to the rudder assembly?

SPTW rudder?
Is there a manufacture that still makes a rudder assembly that works on the scupper pro?
This boat has maybe a 1/4 hole with a bushing in it for a pivot pin.

Re: Boat advise
Thanks for the advise. I was leaning towards one of the Malibu.
For the time being, I was able to get the hook up with another Scupper Pro (even same color as my old one).
I'll be keeping my eye on the X-Factor. I might up grade in a year or two.

Boat advise
I'm looking into getting back into kayaking for fishing and river trips. I am not new to this, just been out a few years. I used to fish hard out of a scupper pro tw, loved that boat, wish I didn't sell it. I will use this mostly for crusing the bays, running baits out in the surf, and possible btb ...

Re: Canoes in the bay?
Years back I was all over the bay from Surfside to SLP in a canoe. I prefer the canoe, high and dry. BUT if there is wind and chop, the kayak is better. I don't think you should foam fill the boat, just make sure that there is enough floatation in the boat to float the boat (almost all come from fac...
