Crappie are more than likely in deeper water right now and will come shallow to spawn between late Feb and mid March when the water temps come up some. Swells are only 4 seconds apart at 2.4 feet, I'd expect it to be fairly bumpy.... Keep the bay in mind as a backup plan.

Agreed. Lip grips work very well. Although I highly doubt anyone is advocates using the lead pipe/.22 combo with the CPR method! Ha!

I've had a seagull swoop down mid cast and catch a lure on his wing. The best thing to do is take off your shirt and throw it over his head. They don't freak out as bad with their head covered. Glad you had a solid catch and release!
