Re: Lake Houston/Luces Bayou 12/27
Crappie are more than likely in deeper water right now and will come shallow to spawn between late Feb and mid March when the water temps come up some. Your tactic of fishing downed structure should yield very good results when they move shallow. ^^^^ THIS Also, most of the fisherman with full crap...

Re: keeping battery charged on overnighters
Doesn't help keep the current fishfinder battery charged, but it never hurts to pack an extra one pre charged in a dirtbag to switch out.
Also, you can buy a boat "cigarette lighter" charger and hard wire it to the extra battery and use it to charge your cellphones or other devices.

Yeah, the secret is to order a new One Day License online every time you go out. Then, make sure you print it out on recycled paper.... Well worth the $1200.

Swells are only 4 seconds apart at 2.4 feet, I'd expect it to be fairly bumpy.... Keep the bay in mind as a backup plan.

Kayaker rescued off Packery Channel
I heard on the radio today about a sailboater falling off his boat in Freeport and swimming 3 miles to shore for help (thank God for his PFD). His craft washed ashore somewhere on Surfside.

custom color cuda 14
really looks nice in all black, compared to my 2013 the keel in front looks sharper so it may track better Think that's just the black causing an illusion. It was a custom ordered color I think it's still a 2013. Makes me really consider forking up the extra cash for a custom color 'd like them to ...

Re: Luces Bayou no good today. advice?
Went out with wife and old Army buddy today with no luck. The guys were skunked while wife caught a nice crappie. Haven't had much luck at Luces with artificial. What do you recommend? Catfish are stellar there and on the North end of Lake Houston in general. It just isn't a very productive bass la...

Agreed. Lip grips work very well. Although I highly doubt anyone is advocates using the lead pipe/.22 combo with the CPR method! Ha!quibbly wrote:I use a net and boga lip grip. More humane if it is catch and release.

Re: Caught a crane on a top water lure!
I've had a seagull swoop down mid cast and catch a lure on his wing. The best thing to do is take off your shirt and throw it over his head. They don't freak out as bad with their head covered. Glad you had a solid catch and release!
