Re: Panic
It's funny how sounds in the dark panic our minds to think they are something huge and scary. I had a buck snort beside me once while we were calling coyotes and he must've gotten within 15 ft of me without smelling me. When calling predators and something huffs besides you it'll make the hairs stan...
Re: Panic
Turtled at night at pins running baits past the third gut. Got hit by a rogue and when I hit bottom I felt something stab me in the leg around the ankle. I felt it pulling at my leg and realized the 20 lb Ray had come loose and one of the 20/0 j hooks had me. I kicked out and away and managed to get...

Re: Why doesn't anyone ever catch a dolphin?
We had one take a blue on a line in Venezuela and he came up and got it by the tail while hooked and took off with it..he shook it until the hook came out. We could see him the whole time on the surface. Drag weight didn't bother him and he never let go till the hook came out and the tension stopped...

Re: Secret hog potion (bait)
I read that actually using diesel in the ground and.let it soak in below the trap. The hogs love the smell of it and tear up the ground. I haven't confirmed this yet so use with caution in case of a spoof.

Re: after the catch
So this is the ultimate Jack. This is the Hawaiian Ulua which is a pacific trevally. They get over 100 lbs and unlike ours here, they are incredible tasting. My biggest was 58 lbs but I've seen many over 80. I've only personally seen one over 100 but they have a 100 club on Oahu. http://img.tapatalk...

Re: Ronmac bamboo fly rod.
Rapidan is definitely a good fisher boo rod. Montague is a more of a blue collar rod made for the masses to enjoy fly fishing. Still a great rod and one consideration I have seen on cff is adding a couple of more eyes to the rod, but it isn't necessary. Pair it with a Medalist reel and you have a gr...

So let's start this side up on the fly fishing a little harder. I Flyfish about 3 times a week and rarely post my stuff on it. I will make an effort to push it along if anyone's game.

That's a Damn bad yak burn. Surf caught it and ran it over the foot and peeled it like an onion. And then the salt burn takes over...never fun.

Re: How do you secure your kayak?
I thought about using my 2500 inverter and electrifying the cable locks only since they are plastic insulated when I'm in a bad location...anyone hits em with any type of cutter would be in for a nice surprise. Probably some kind of liability issue however they would have to admit to trying to steal...

Madisonville used to have a small lake that was fun. Raven is the best but tough. Fish the weedline with flukes and also Carolina rig a bait out as far as possible and work back to the weedline. The deeper suspended fish will pick it up in between sometimes.

Lol took a limit in an hour...no pics. I have the absolute best day hunt location ever. It's on a pathway to and from roosting grounds.

Re: Hook set failures
Also when a fish is up beside the yak, we tend to have the rod higher than when in a boat since we are closer to the water. That changes the whole angle of leverage on the fish. Keep the rod low to the water will help with spit hooks.

I fish a 2 wt with 4 lb a lot and don't have any problems. Most Spanish and bass like was said don't care about leader size. I've used 20 lb and caught bluegill on it in timber. Try changing your knot to a more friendly one like the loop knot. I do the improved clinch and as long as you work it down...

Avery Ranch Public today
Went to Avery for the first time, beautiful little pond. Fished around the banks first in trees with a tx rig and figured out that wasn't the pattern. Paddled all the way to the bridge and came back throwing a white spinner bait. Saw an egret in the middle of the pond and thought he was on a stump b...

Another way to fillet them is cut across like you would start a fillet and cut down the back in the middle.to the side.your starting on. Run the knife along the ribs and pull lightly on the fillet as you are slicing...it will peel right down the bones. Once.you get past the ribs, slide the knife Luk...

Re: Lake Fork Questions
There are fish in the timber if you can locate a good drop off or hump. I have done really well on baby brush hogs in watermelon candy as well as wackys in same color. Buzzbaits inside the timber line of the grass does good early morning. Sometimes out in 15 ft of water. A lot of 4-5 lb fish that wa...

Hey upland they are moving down a bit. You can still catch some up around the ramp. I've been seeing a few schools. Blackrock park on the lower end is getting some striper action on top. Hard to catch the schools just right in a yak but fun if you do.
Re: What if?
Back in about 90 was.fishing below inks dam and caught about a 15 lb hybrid on a big topwater. When trying to get it, it buried a hook to the bone in my thumb and then shook and broke it off right above the skin. I was young and dumb and the fish were biting so I went back.to my tackle box and grabb...

Custom Ammo
Well it took me almost 8 months but I finally am set up for custom ammo. I do reloads and new ammo. My process is simple on custom. You give me the caliber and I will work up a safe load for it. I take pics and send them on each stage. Powder measure, bullet depth, case length etc. That way you know...
