Re: Fishing around turtle grass
Thanks guys. I forgot to specify the main issue was not being able to maneuver my lure due to it always getting stuck in the grass weedless or not. Looks like I might have to dust off the ol 8wt next time!

Fishing around turtle grass
So I was fishing around turtle grass and was trying to sightcast some reds with no luck due to heavy turtle grass. I put on a weedless jighead with no luck either. Can someone educate me on how to efficiently fish this type of vegetation?

Re: Popping Cork Differences
You put me on those corks too Tom. They have them at Roy's bait and tackle. Tombo gave me a cork about 8 or 9 years ago and I still use it. It's different than most in that it's got a weight suspended under it on a wire and a barrel swivel on top. Both the main line and the leader tie at the top of ...

Re: Two Best Instructional DVDs for a Kayaker - For Christmas
I have all four DVDs and I can honestly say that they have helped me become the inshore angler today. Not saying I'm a bada$$ but I've been able to be more consistent catching limits of reds and trout. Out of all of the DVDs, my favorite is the shallow water reds, if you were to at least buy one I w...

Re: Ultrasonic Cleaner – Cleans!
I clean all my reels with an ultra sonic cleaner. I use a simple green and water as my solution (approx 1:4 ratio mix). For the bearings I take those out and put in a separate cup of mineral spirits and let them soak. Been doing it for the past 2 years and no complaints.

Just ordered me a couple packs! Can't wait to try them out! Now that you have this baby out does this mean we're going to see a flounder DVD in the near future?

Re: Lures VS Live bait trolling
Kind of why I was asking...don't want to carry a bunch of crap I don't need. Thanks just the same. I'll figure it out. 8) I would say a good general lure depth to start out with is 15' IMO. From the 40-60 ft of water here in Corpus that will put you in the top 1/3-1/4 of the water column. With a ri...

I used to frequent the facebook tkf and find myself migrating back to the forum. Seems to be a lot more drama and immaturity on FB which I don't care for.

Re: Lures VS Live bait trolling
Kinda goes with that saying "Let the fish tell you what they want". Have a variety of baits. Once you figure what they want that day keep on keeping on!kickingback wrote:Thanks fellers!
Is the size of the lure or how deep it dives a factor?

Rod for popping cork
I was wondering what kind of rods you guys are using to throw popping corks (length, power & action). Looking to start throwing some this season with a spinning rod. Thanks.

Re: Wilderness Tarpon 130x reviews?
I won the 130X in a raffle last year and took it out once before I sold it. It was a decent paddling boat that I was able to stand in and the seat was pretty comfortable. My one gripe was that it was a pretty noisy boat with hull slap especially in the hole on the bottom of the boat where the fish f...

FG knot if tie the knot at home.
I like FG but it is difficult to do it right on the water (in the wind) for me.

Re: Getting through the breakers
I have a PA14 that I take offshore and I agree it is one of the least performing boats for the surf, also when turtled, it is one of the hardest to right over. Where it shines is after the breakers, it is an awesome fishing platform with tons of storage/space. Make sure you are able to self rescue o...

Re: Btb Video Corpus 10/6/16
Nice job! How are you cooking up these jack that you're catching? Any tips on recipes? I usually save them for shark fishers but this time I brought them over to Roys and traded them in for store credit. I never ate them before but honestly I need to try it once to say how it is. There are a lot of...

Btb Video Corpus 10/6/16
Here's a little video I whipped up from a couple days ago. Lately I've been trying to get more proficient in the bays for redfish and told myself I was done with offshore for the season after the extreme tourney. Well my buddy was pretty persistent on getting me to go out and twisted my arm so I dec...

Re: Skimmer 140 users?
I have a 140 and absolutely love it. It's a real efficient paddling boat which equals fast! The weight on it is also a major plus. The boat is super quiet with no hull slap so you can sneak up on those tailing reds. If you are in the Corpus area give me a holler and I can let you try it out. If I co...

Re: Extreme update
It was definitely a rough day to say the least. I almost ate it going out a had to keep an eye on the swells at all times especially being in a PA. If it wasn't tourney day I would've definitely stayed at home. Ended up catching all my fish (1 king & 2 Spanish) going back in lol. I had another k...

Re: Reel cleaning after turtling
I turtles on the way back in but I don't have to worey about cleaning my gear, cause some lovely Corpus residents decided to force down my back window and steal all my offshore and inshore gear. I replaced a couple combos so I could get some family fishing time in today. I guess just another excuse...
