Re: Arroyo Trip
Looks like it was a real father-son event. Good of you for making it happen. I have now lived in Santa Fe, NM (not Tx) for 12 years after a life in Texas. I still keep a storage unit in Ingleside for the rare opportunity to return to fish the beautiful flats. With your post inspiration I may venture...

Not surprised in the least!
I'll recognize the ad if I see it...
Also, double bonus points to anyone who harvests the material, ties the fly and lands the fish!

Especially to a fisherman who wishes he could.
Great pics and post.

Good news JW! Glad you are back in the saddle.
Keep riding the waves and catching the reds. It keeps you young.

Re: Rough morning for the redfish
Thanks for the response Dr. Salt.
If anyone has a suggestion I'd love to hear it. I think some fly casters strip the line over the side of the kayak to keep it from tagling in the boat but I'm not sure I am that coordinated....

Re: Rough morning for the redfish
I gotta ask as I noticed a green canvas (?) cover the deck you use when flyfishing. I need some line management suggestions but I've got a Hobie Compass pedal drive and the foot pedals are awkward. It discouraged me from flyfishing while seated.
Any tips?
Thanks, Roger

Re: Late report October 9th Freeport
Thank you for a very entertaining report! Anyone persevering the flyrod and catching is a hero in my eyes. Anytime I catch a fish in the salt with a fly I am proud as it's so easy to go straight to the conventional tackle. My excuses are typically, it's too windy, the waters too deep, I'm spooking t...

Re: Pre-trip Advice?
Sooo..... With the knowledge you guys provided regarding --high winds, high tides and extreme heat, I drove 2 1/2 hours to the the Conejos River in Southern CO. We fished and camped for 2 days. Highs in the 60s, lows in the 40s. Pretty good place. ps, only I only caught one brown trout. need. Still ...

Re: Pre-trip Advice?
So appreciate the responses as it's difficult to assess conditions unless you can see it live and certainly from a fisherman's perspective. And it is really disappointing to drive for two days and then, no fishing...... I'll continue the keep the fishing window open possibly just postpone the dates....

Can I ask for your comments regarding the weather as I see heat warnings and even so fish-...

Hipshot, I'm slow on the draw but increasingly interested in the microskiff. Re: Solo skiff fiberglass vs Solo Skiff Rotomolded
-if I may learn from the guys posting with solo skiffs; 1, if your engine shutdown, how would you describe paddling ease? 2, GoDoe, I think you prefer skinny water flyfishing, is that why you went with a fiberglass? 3, The 5/6 HP engine is a nice balance with either a fiberglass or rotomolded?
