Re: Texas Water Safari
I'm picking up a new to me PRS Surf/Ski this weekend  and was fortunate enough to sit for a few hours with a 16 time race finisher and 1st in her class this year, finishing at just over 45 hours. At this point, I'm all in (at least as all as I can be at this point). My wife is worried and t...

Re: Texas Water Safari
I've considered this for a couple years. I've read with lots of interest, information presented by folks who have participated in previous TWS races. Like a few guys who posed interest previously, I'm not trying to come in 1st place, I just want to finish within the 100 hour cutoff... I have been lo...

Re: Texas Water Safari
Hi all, I think I'm going to give it a shot this year. I'm excited and giddy like a little girl  One of my first problems it what to float on... I bought a T160 and have been paddling it a bit. I like it, but it's still kind of heavy. I'm thinking about the portages... Anyway, I noticed that m...

Re: Colorado mule and elk hunt
I just looked 75 /751 up. That's my old stompin grounds! Much of the national forest in those area border Ute Indian Reservation. Very productive, but you have to be sure not to cross indian land or hunt it, or you can be facing lots of trouble... I've been very successful in an area called Washingt...

Re: Colorado mule and elk hunt
I'm from Colorado, but haven't been there in years. I used to hunt around Gunnison and Durango, mainly Mule Deer and Elk. first and foremost, GET IN SHAPE NOW. There is much less oxygen in Colorado and altitude can take the wind out of anyone. Be sure to drink plenty of water. Even though you will p...

Don't have a kayak yet or haven't decided on one?
Hi all, Like most on this board, I suggest you try before you buy. This leaves the question, where to try... A bunch of us have more than one kayak and would gladly meet you and let you try it out... That said I have a couple ride 115s with a high and low seat, a jackson big tuna and a hobie pro ang...

Re: riverfishing
If you want to avoid tubers, you can put in the Guadalupe at Cypress Bend park in New Braunfels. Fish that area and paddle down just below the rapid. Fish the pool. It holds some pretty large LMB and some Guads... If you don't have much luck there, you can fish all the way down to the dam. You shoul...

Re: Moving back to San Antonio
Sounds good! I finally got her in a kayak! I never thought I'd see the day! I got her on the big tuna, but she tried a friend's sit in yak and liked it better, so I'm selling the tuna and getting her a sit in yak! She has a friend who encouraged her (she listened to her because she's a woman) and we...

Re: I am certain this is a dumb question, but I need some help.
I'd suggest you consider looking at the ride 135 too... You can, use the high or low seats. The 135 is a bit longer, so, is a bit more efficient. It's also very stable. .. Ive had both the 115 and 135. I stuck with, the 115, mainly because I, river fish. Shorter in the river is better. Speed & e...

Re: New guy
Trollinyak, Welcome back to the water! I'd say you should consider the your weight, the kind of water you plan to fish and the gear you're planning on bringing before you make a choice on a yak... The Ride is super stable and you can stand pretty easy for fly fishing. The tarpon is narrower, but fas...

Re: heading to the guad/comal tomorrow morning
Yup, there was enough water, but with my wife I was more interested in her enjoying the trip than I was fishing... I was starting to see tubers in the Comal, so I guess fishing from the tube shoot to the confluence is pretty much over... Right around the confluence, I saw some nice bass... God Bless...

Re: Carry handgun while kayak questions
I keep a small dry box (black in color, so it can't be seen through) tethered to my seat with a small stainless auto in it.
Like a couple others have mentioned, i'm more leery of the 2 legged land mammals than anything in the water...
I never go yaking without it...

Re: Attn: Ride 115X owners
Seat - The seat back looks kind of short. Do you like the seat? Do you find the back too short? Does seat have enough padding? Standing - In order to have enough room for your feet, do you have to move the seat back? The pics I've seen, it looks like there's not much foot room. Unless they had the ...
