Re: TPWD Sets Public Meetings

I usually keep 18-19" trout when I do keep them and try to let 20"+ trout go anyway. Galveston seems to have plenty of trout not sure about the lower coast :cat:

That's good to hear. Hated seeing all the dead trout on the shorelines after the last freeze.

Good report David those bulls do wear you out on light tackle. I like catching them on the heavier rods and reels we use for btb

Re: Bull Red trips--Galveston/Bolivar

7 ft med heavy to heavy rod at least 20 to 30 lb line with 5 or 6 ft 200 lb mono leader and large circle hook with no weight. Large chunks of cut mullet is best bait, frozen if you don't have fresh. The big baits will help keep the snot sharks off your line. Float a bait under a balloon for sharks. ...

Re: Does anyone have information?

I stayed there last winter and you have to be a resident in JB to park and launch there. Galveston doesn't want tourists to fish there. There are fewer launches to use over the years :horse:

Fished there more than a few times a few miles down the beach and 2 miles or so offshore like someone mentioned.Jacks smacks macks and plenty of sharks even saw a tarpon hooked as we were trolling out to the rig one time he lost it after a couple jumps when his reel broke. Re: Galveston considering to abandon the west bay access point on Sportsman's Road

The problems all started when the schmuck to the east side of the ramp built his house there. He shouldn't have built it if he didn't like the ramp next door that's been there for decades. It's not good for a boat ramp because it's been neglected for all these years. It can easily be improved as a k...

Re: Sportsman road update (not good)

Watson I don't think the property is worth that much and I'm pretty sure that is more than the home owners would pay. When I talked to the home owner on the west side of the ramp he said they would buy it if the city wasn't asking crazy money and to me 500k is crazy money. I WILL SPEND MY MONEY ELSE...

Re: Boat report

Ron, To me winter trout fishing is my favorite time of year so that’s how I feel. I usually catch a dozen or two big trout over 25” this was the worst winter I’ve had since I’ve been kayak fishing for numbers and size. So far I’ve caught about one third of last years totals. My first day last winter...

Boat report

Dandy Don and I planned this trip a few days ago. We met at the marina at 7am and headed out into the bay, we fished shorelines, coves and mid bay reefs with no luck. I had two bites and missed them both. We found mullet in some areas and tried a variety of mirrolure’s, soft plastics and top waters....

Looks like a nice place to stay. I'm sure you were booked in advance and had to deal with the conditions when you're weekend arrived. You always do it up right. Seems like the north wind has been blowing more than usual this winter, Thanks for the report
