Re: Aluminum Pirouge
I have seen that kayak and was very impressed. he really came up with a good one. I am honestly looking more for something a little more durable and that I can leave in the sun.

Aluminum Pirouge
Has anyone ever built or had one? I have been looking for one to buy but cant find anyone that sells them or even a used one but I have seen them. I appreciate all types of boats but for this application I don't want to let the sun get the plastic or a fiberglass boat and wood is just too pretty for...

Re: Who makes the best aluminum Kayak/ pirouge
I have seen a few over the years but am unsure who the best builder is. I am hoping for a pirogue style with a very open floor plan. I have only seen sit ins but think they would be great for back waters

Who makes the best aluminum Kayak/ pirouge
Title says it all. I am looking for a lightweight one man boat. Must be all welded and be under 50lbs. A simple freshwater river style boat that paddles well.

That sounds like a blast. Please keep us posted and do a recap on what gear was used and what gear was not needed.

Re: how did you find umderwater structure
Building structure is out. I could only haul one brick at a time I like fishing with in 2 miles is possible. I know this limits the snapper fishing but I have lots of fun with kings and other fish.
For those that use GPS do you also need a depth finder?
Thanks again for all the help!

Re: how did you find umderwater structure
Navionics is a good tool. So are binoculars. As you paddle, look for spade fish, sea turtles and birds. Look for depth variations with sonar as you paddle over them. Also, if anyone wants to build a reef, let me know and I'll bring my hobie navy to help out. Anyone have extra cinder blocks laying a...

Re: how did you find umderwater structure
Thanks I have mentioned one spot and won't do that again. I will check out the hot spots any other maps? I know there are a few pipelines offshore but am unsure if they will hold fish.

how did you find umderwater structure
I would like to find some less known areas to fish. I am not asking for GPS locations but want to know how to find my on hot spots. Do most of you find out by maps or word of mouth or do a few just put in a lot of time trolling looking at the fish finder when you are btb. Thanks for the help.

Re: Who all has got SPOOLED while fishing in a kayak? Post Up :)
Good Stories keep them coming. I am still thinking a 6500 spooled with braid and a mono top shot should hold 99% of what I will catch.

Who all has got SPOOLED while fishing in a kayak? Post Up :)
I am looking for a new reel and trying to decide on line capacity. I would like to know who has actually broke their line because they ran out of line in a kayak. 1) Please list what you were fishing for- 2) What fish you think spooled you- 3) LB test- 4) reel used- I am thinking that few folks will...

Re: Is a ABU 6500 with braid and mono topshot ok for rig fishing
my calculations show about 70 yards of 25lb mono on top of 209' of 30lb braid. total of 279 yards. That is close to what a abu 7000 holds with just 30lb mono

Is a ABU 6500 with braid and mono topshot ok for rig fishing
Is this reel under gunned? I have a 7000 but want something that is a little more castable for lures at the rig. With this hold a good king? I have heard they can make some pretty long runs. I am thinking I can get almost 300 yards with a 30lb mono topshot with braid under this. Would I just be bett...

Re: FTU reel cleaning services?
I would not got to FTU for anything. I went one time and the service was so bad I left. I was looking at spending $300 on a rod and reel. So I left and went to bass pro in Katy and got it there. FTU will never get my business again.
