New BYB kayak options

I own a Malibu X-factor for fishing. Love it, but it's leaking pretty bad now days. Looking at possibly buying another kayak. Looking for a extremely stable kayak for a big guy. I'm 6'4" 280LBS. Anywhere to start researching? Wish they still sold the Malibu X-factor since I loved it.

Re: Kayak fisherman killed by shark.

I've often seen pics of folks on here putting their feet in the water. Personally under no circumstances do my feet go into the water if I can help it haha. I always thought a shark might come up and take a foot off. At the end of the day I think this was just a random event. Bad luck if you will. W...

Re: The Creation of the Earth - Day Eight

Hmmm... It seems my net worth around here is 14 cents, but strangely enough I'm good with that. It seems to me that I was born 150 years after my time. Long before the helplessness of socialism krept in and the American spirit of independance departed for regions unknown, people would come up with ...

Re: Stupid Newscasters

I quit watching the news for the most part after several stories that happened very close to me, or where I had inside information. They got those stories so backwards it wasn't funny. Don't buy much of what you see on the news. I don't think they could get a story right if their life depended on it...

Re: Not impressed at all with Malibu

Another update: After finally getting Milo's attention he's been emailing me checking up pretty regular. I told him I just fixed the hatch myself because I was sick of waiting, and my nephews possibly last summer to fish with me was going down the drain. He said he was sorry, and offered to send me ...

Re: Not impressed at all with Malibu

Finally waited way past my bedtime (I work nights), and called Milo directly. He told me to uninstall the hatch and reinstall and that would fix my problem. I asked why it took 6 weeks to get a answer like that? He told me that he didn't even know I was trying to contact him. I had been told they we...

I strongly disagree. Look up the criminal stats on CHL holders. It will open your eyes. You from California?

Malibu reps?

Was wondering if there's any Malibu reps on these boards. I've been trying to get Malibu to deal with a warranty issue for 6 weeks now without even so much as a reply from their warranty department. http://www.texaskayakfisherman.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=193413" onclick="window.o...

Re: Not impressed at all with Malibu

Another quick update. Called them this morning when I got off work, a lady answered and basically told me there was a major accident and everyone was running very late. She took down my information and promised someone would email me by their lunchtime in kommiefornia. Woke up this evening and check...

Re: Not impressed at all with Malibu

Update. My sister was going to handle the warranty, but she didn't have enough time so I took it over three weeks ago. They were very easy to contact and they requested pictures and a video. Right away I emailed them them pictures and video. I emailed them again after week two with no plan of action...

I enjoy catching large fish in a small boat. I would by a motor boat also, but just to get me out to deep water to use my kayak. :D

Re: Alaska still a bit chilly for BTB

I used to live in Juneau. I miss it greatly, and yes I have opened my front door to find a 400+ black bear sitting on my front porch not more then a few feet from me.

I really wish I would of known about kayak fishing while I lived up there. I would of loved to land one of those salmon sharks!

Re: IGFA Shark Angling Survey

I took the survey. Unfortunately, I got the feeling based on the questions that it is a graduate student trying to get more ammo to restrict shark fishing. Bingo, it's clear by the questions that's what they are aiming for. The idiots probably don't have more then a handful of days on the wa...

I appreciate the responses guys! I too am torn, I love ocean kayaks, so I believe I will stick with them, I really like the 13 just worry about coming re entry in rough surf, but man the width of the big game is similar to a fnd and seems very stable!! Ahhh to many choices :D I really want to go th...

Re: This is what I call launching into the surf.

That was my first job. I was 12 years old when I started and my job was to turn the boat into the surf and hold her steady until the owner parked the truck. Then I'd push her out and jump in. We'd troll for salmon or pull pots for crab depending on what commercial season was open. It was probably th...

My nephew that's 17 got a kayak (when it gets repaired). You know I wasn't to worried when it was just me, but now with the nephew in tow I think I'm going to make up some dedicated emergency bags, one for each of us. I would like to hear anyones suggestions what should go into these bags. This is w...

Re: Not impressed at all with Malibu

I'd call the manufacturer first. Tell them the issues and give them a chance to fix them. If you don't get a satisfactory answer then blast them on the social media sites. Sorry you disagree with what I've said. I don't see the problem though considering if they make it right I'll certainly post th...

Prowler big game angler

Was up at ACK and saw a prowler big game that I liked for a decent price. Any feed back on them would be appreciated on how they handle surf, and any issues with cracking or other problems.
