Re: Mountain Lion near Houston

A couple of years ago or so there were numerous reports of sightings of a mountain lion and loss of pets called in to the sheriff's office & game warden by a number of residents of a large rural subdivision here north of Houston between Conroe & Montgomery. I have family there & heard ab...

Close to Houston...... you can always go up & stay at Huntsville State Park & paddle/fish Lake Raven. Or..... camp at Harmon Creek Marina east of Hunstville. Lots of choices to paddle/fish there -- can even paddle through the slough to the Trinity River. Or camp up at Stubblefield Lake on th...

Looks like it was a great trip! I'm envious ......but it's on my to-do list!! All I've done this summer is the Colorado or local areas....sigh. But (!!!!) added 2 more yak's to my fleet so I now have more choices, lol!! WS Tarpon 140 and a little 8' Sun Dolphin for my almost 6 yr old grandson.

Used to paddle up there all the time and have only seen ones around 4-5' a handful of times. Mostly likely the same one at the first bend south of the bridge. But....they are there, lol. A couple of years ago when the drought dried up the area near the ramp I had to drive up there to see for myself ...

For future reference when you're spending a few days, you're not far from some of the Arkansas State parks. The first thing that comes to mind is how well maintained and clean every one I've been through have been! Looks like DeGray Lake Resort State Park is a little over 4 hrs from Dallas. It is ab...

Caddo Lake Photos

Two weeks ago I spent Fri thru Mon up at Caddo Lake at the state park which has gotten to be one of my favorite's despite some thunderstorms that came through and left some of the campsite's a bit muddy. I was lucky and had a higher, drier site. Thought I'd share some of the photos, most of which we...

Glad you posted an update and photos! Sounds like it was a really good time all around .....'cept for the coons, lol. (And actually better than Harmon as to having a more private wooded site). Those coons are so sneaky; especially at campgrounds where they've become even more talented at getting int...

It's one of my favorite places and close enough I can do a day trip!! I agree with the above -- spend the $$ for two yaks. My $.02, speaking as a female, others' experiences over the years, and also having kept my almost 20 year old OT Loon Tandem in my fleet to take or loan out to friends .......... is that they don't call tandems "divorce boats" for nothin...

I've been on the fence all afternoon until I came back in and did the round of checking the different sites & Austin/Bastrop stations. They're all different in their predictions, lol!!!! Regardless, I'm going to figure those sites into the equation that increase it up to 90% with possible severe...

Re: Colorado River Open Invite

Yep...you know me.....it all depends on how the weather looks for the trip. As of now, I haven't decided whether I'll make the 3 hr drive that morning, or stay at the Hobo Camp on Thursday night. Either way I'll be paddling on little sleep because of my night owl tendencies, lol!
