Re: Anyone built a pirogue?
You cant go wrong with Jem Watercraft. I have built three of his boats and I tell you what...they are absolutely spectacular. There is something that he understands about boat design, hydrodynamics, or whatever it is that makes his boats paddle extremely well.

Looking for a place that sells marine plywood in the Austin or San Antonio area. Even Corpus Christi would work.

Re: Not a boat, model Sailplanes.
I used to fly the crap out of those things. Its been about 17 years since I last flown. My favorite glider was a sparrow from northeast sail planes. Used to slope soar down in Corpus Christi. I also had an Illusion from M&M glider works. It was a hand launch all wood glider. Thats prolly the clo...

The kitchen is the only way to go for the final coat. Good lighting, temperature controlled, and fast access to a Lonestar
This is one of my favorite boats I have ever paddled. I cannot believe how fast that thing is. And its a nice looker!

Re: Martindale River Park.... Trash everywhere
There is this place a few miles from my house. Its a low water crossing and you can walk quite a ways down river on foot. I put in there on a Sunday morning a while back and I could not believe how much trash and crap people left behind. Cans, bottles, broken chairs, water toys, clothes, socks, shir...

This is going to be a cool build!
Looking at the plans it sorta looks like a big Jem paddle board If I ever moved back to corpus this is the kind of boat I would like to have. Is it the same one Tombo is going to build?

I would have to say the Upper Guadalupe since I only live about a mile from the closest crossing.
Also hit the Frio quit frequently. Like to fish it after all the tubers are gone in the fall. Beautiful river.

Re: Frio water levels?
The section of river between 1120 and happy hollow is probably the best run in a kayak without having to get out and drag. Take it slow because its a short run. It has one place with a small water fall that you prolly wont want to try with all your fishing gear. I usually carry around it. Just have ...

The epoxy might settle out after it sits a bit. If it doesn't you will just have to sand a little more. When you varnish sand between each coat with something like 220 grit paper with your orbital till its all white. You dont want any shiny spots. I use 3" disposable foam brushes from the hardw...

Re: CLC Kaholo 14 Build
Make sure when you glass that thing it is vented somehow. Or if your not using a vent. Epoxy it when the temperature is cooling down outside. Not in the morning. These large hollow boards can build a lot of pressure in them just like a plastic gas can does. If your glassing when the board has pressu...
