Re: Heading to Baytown Nature Center this morning..

Thanks, very much. As I now know it is there, I WILL find it. It seems that the Burnett side would be best with the wind out of the South (most of the time when I go, anyhow). That will make my next trip a bit of adventure, as I only fished that side once ( no luck) but banged up my yak trying to g...

Re: Heading to Baytown Nature Center this morning..

Chief, I was on the South ....Scott's bay.... side. As I left, around 2 or 2:30 I saw three boats on the Burnett (North) side all fishing somewhat close together. Hope they were on a school of reds. I haven't found a good kayak launch site on the North side of the peninsula. Is there one? Most ever...

Re: Heading to Baytown Nature Center this morning..

Hey Rich - sorry you struck out. I just saw this post or I would have come by to say hi. We know that there are reds being caught in the evening on Burnett Bay - which side of the Nature Center were you fishing on? fyi, the Hurricane (it was Alicia) was just the final straw for Brownwood - they were...

'it's not a purse, it's a satchel. Indiana Jones had one' Here, let me help you revoke my card even more - I watch cooking shows...a lot. Chopped. Beating Bobby Flay. Even Guy Fieties shows - and they all use evoo when they cook. I think that if you are going high temp on whatever you are saute'ing ...

Re: Fake Olive Oils

I have been hearing rumblings and reading articles about counterfeit Xtra virgin olive oil for a few years now. A friend I have in the restaurant business (who is Sicilian-American) says it is the Italian mafia doing it - by dilution - and that almost any olive oil labeled extra virgin that is made...

Re: Fake Olive Oils

Hey Jack - I'm a costco fan and a EVOO fan - but that one you have in your picture is not a real good quality oil. They have a different one in a slimmer glass (not plastic) bottle that is a Tuscan olive oil - that is the one that is highly rated. love my evoo - and I absolutely love costco - great ...

Re: Hook Corrosion Rate

we've had this discussion a couple of times (I guess after a year or two on here you get to see most of the discussions that cycle around), it actually has been rather heated between the 'hooks rust out - I know they do' and the 'no they don't, I know they don't' crowd. I'm in the later just from an...

Re: tactfully and tastefully please

I have done business with SWPS, and I have also gotten to know the owners as they volunteer their time and material for some of the same projects I volunteer for - you could not be dealing with better character folks - or more knowledgeable paddlers. Give them a chance - I feel very confident you wi...

Re: Any one fish smiths point lately

we were about 10 miles north of Smith this weekend, water was inundated with small hard heads and gafftop, and interestingly there were quite a few gar rolling around in the middle. Did catch the odd small spec and a few lady fish as well. This was Friday night and Saturday during the day, could hav...

one just attacked a commercial lawnmower because it got right on top of her nest before the operator knew what was there - so they quickly lose all fear if the nest is threatened. But i've fished in their company many times, never had the feeling that they were interested in me anymore than I'm inte...
