Re: Help with deep sea fishing charter reference...

Thank you for all the replies and thoughts. In reference to the big boats like the Dolphin, I've done that once with a group of guys. It was fun for the experience but that's not what I want my bride to endure. In reference to me being lucky or smart...I'll choose "luck" with a big sprinkl...

Re: Are kayak lessons necessary?

I'll second the motion for kayak lessons. I don't think lessons are necessary but I do believe those who take lessons are better prepared to avoid problems and overcome problems. That's my two-cents.

Help with deep sea fishing charter reference...

Howdy all, My bride and I have a wedding anniversary coming up. She wants to do a deep sea fishing charter for tuna. My limited knowledge is kayak fishing in the flats. We are seeking a private charter with somebody trustworthy. Does anyone have any referrals? Shoot me a PM or respond to this post. ...

WM,

I'm late getting to your post...thanks for the reply. 10 miles? That's still a good trip one way...and the fishing makes it all the better. Thank you for the updates.

Re: Lower Pecos River / Seminole Canyon State Park

lp,

Did you make the trip afterall? Was Seminole Canyon in reach with the low water in Amistad and mud bar between Pecos and Rio Grande? I'm asking because I am scheduled to do the same trip in mid-April. My biggest concern is the water level and previously mentioned mud bar in another post.

Re: Pecos River Trip

Wolfman, A few buddies and I were going to head to the Pecos River in April to do some kayaking, camping, and fishing. Did ya'll put in at the Hwy 90 Ramp? Was there plenty of water to get to Deadman's Canyon about 7 miles up river from the ramp? As your post read, is it not at all passable to get t...

TKFSA Meeting: June 17th at Hills and Dales

Hello local TKFSA'ers. It's been a busy spring leading to an even busier summer. The temperatures are climbing quickly to triple digits and Texas inland waters remain safe from the oil nightmare in the Gulf. June 17th is right around the corner so I thought I'd post up a friendly reminder for those ...

TKF brother seeks guidance for Mexico fishing trip.

Ola fellow TKF'ers, I will be headed to Mexico (Playa del Carmen area) in July for a fishing trip and vacation. Anyone been there lately who can offer up some good fishing services and thrown in some of the do's and dont's for that area? I admit it--I normally ain't skeered, but this is new waters f...

I also would like to thank all of you Texans that made the trip to visit us. I was told that our tide change is kill...

Three Days on the Rio Grande through Boquillas Canyon

I was with five other paddler-adventurers who also completed the 33-mile run. Sunday started the trek from Rio Grande Village in the Big Bend National...

Thanks for the input! So styrofoam wouldn't work? What happeneds when I paddle is some water comes over the rear, the limit is 350 lbs and I'm 270 lbs. ...and with you being 270, you're a large fellow. Others have posted up about size, weight, and which kayak serves them best. I am 285 and I found ...
