Anyone know good spots to fish with 15+ SE winds, or would it be better just to stay at the casa? Not looking for exact spots to fish, just where we might get SOME protection from the wind.
Thanks!

Re: Why are we so stupid?!?!
If anyone is wading without a PFD, at least get you one of those do-nets (with the Styrofoam rings). I stepped in a hole wading near the bridge on Todsville road a few years ago. That do-net saved me. I grabbed hold of it until the current pushed me back into shallower water. That scenario + close r...

Re: Galveston Island State Park questions
You can also considering launching at Waterman's (right next door) at any hour. It is at the South end of Lake Como. Costs ten bucks there, though. If no one is around to get your money, just pay when you leave. Park across the road in the big parking lot. They prefer that you park way towards the ...

THanks for the info guys....I was there today. I fished the hole between the shell and the levee....hooked up on several small specs. I was about to leave (10 AM), and I saw something chasing bait fish about 50 yards away. As I got closer, I realized that is was something of good size. I got close e...

Welcome Russ. First of all I know some of us are jealous...one, you live in Rockport, and two,you are retired. I have been fishing for a long time (40+ years) and I agree that catching trout and reds seemed a lot easier back in the day. That could have been partly due to the fact that my father was ...

TCD question
Before I got into kayak fishing, I would wade out on the shell reef from the TCD road. I actually found a good spot on the left hand side that produced regularly prior to hurricane Ike. I have been to TCD several times this summer and had some luck in my kayak, but I have had more days of skunks or ...

Re: Am I outdated.
If it catches fish, who cares? I remember when I was growing up in East TX, we would make poles using tree limbs and string, and anything we could bend into a hook. We would catch our own bait (crickets, worms, other bugs, etc), and just dangle all of that in a creek and catch perch, and a few small...

Congrats!!
Did you launch under the bridge?
Trout I fry
Redfish I grill
Flounder I bake
And all 3 are delicious. Fried flounder is pretty good too.
I usually coat the fish in some mustard, then role them around in Louisiana brand fish fry (the spicy).

Re: Let's hear your "Oh Crap" stories
1) I was wade fishing near the bridge on Todville Rd. that covers the entrance into the lagoon. I was trying to get close the bridge as the current was ripping (ingoing) and the fish were biting right at the bridge. As I was trying to inch closer to the bridge, I stepped into a hole and was in water...

Thank you Mr. Game Warden
This afternoon I went to Kemah to visit one of the fish markets to get some red snapper filets and jumbo shrimp. I took some back roads over to Todville Rd. As I am crossing the bridge that borders the lagoon, there were at least 3 game wardens writing tickets to unlicensed fisherman, and I hope the...

Re: Continued Fishing Frustration
I remember one weekend where I made 3 trips in a row (Fri, Sat, and Sun) and got skunked. Each day I would come home, clean everything, pack up, get up early and head out. That Sunday my wife asked me why I kept going back if I was not catching anything. I told her that catching fish is like a bonus...

Headed down Sun AM to Texas City Dike. I had planned on being on the water by 6 AM. I had also planned on using some live shrimp until I located some trout, but none of the bait camps had live shrimp when I got there about 5:30. I know of place in Kemah that always has shrimp, so I hooked it over th...

Re: Noobie needing help
You could try the best of both worlds....get you some live shrimp or mullet and when you start catching fish on the live bait, switch over and start chunking arties. I did that once at the TX City Dike...I had already loaded up my yak from fishing the bay side, looked over to the channel side and it...

Re: I wish I'd have taken some pictures at San Luis Pass....
I fished on Memorial Day at TX City Dike. I launched about 10 minutes before the sun came up. By the time I got back to my truck, I was surrounded by several trashed out cars, and trash everywhere. Had to ask some yahoos to move their beach chairs right behind my truck so I could load my kayak. This...
