Re: Night time underwater fishing lights

check the old post before 2010 for ideas. It is a pain but a buddy liked using a 12 volt battery and a drop over the side non led that Academy used to sell back when. Some led lights might work the same way? You can drop over the side or you can put it on a float and let it drift down wind or curren...

Re: Different idea for fish finder install

https://www.texaskayakfisherman.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=200098 I started with TKF back in 1999 and things have changed a lot. Back then most people wanted to have a clean deck with very little above the hull to get into the way. I did this post back in the day after I bought a BabyCat because I fi...

Re: Different idea for fish finder install

Back in the mid 2000's we had a lot of discussions on this. I had mine rigged where I mounted the td in the pvc piece that was glued into the bottom of the kayak. I used water then went to vasoline because the water would leak out from time to time. They can become unglued and not work but just clea...

Re: Best soft-sided cooler?

I used the Walmart bag for years. The usual problem is sooner or later some fish will knock some holes in the cooler.

They still work well BUT carry a hard cooler or container to put the cooler into your car other wise the car will smell like fish when they leak. ;) JimD

Re: How to lanch a kayak down a deep slope and get it back up the slope?

I have a house close to the river and the drop off is from 40-60 feet down with a 10 ft drop off or more. I have one place that we can get down to the water where the bank was cut a little for a water pump. The last 10-15 feet is steep but doable and I am looking for some way to rig a way to pull ka...

How to lanch a kayak down a deep slope and get it back up the slope?

Happy New Year. I have not been on the board in a while and not been kayaking or running my BabyCat on the bay. I bought a place on the Gaudloupe River last week that came with 3 10 ft kayaks, two inflatable kayaks. My problem is not which one to fish but how to get the kayaks down to the river. My ...

Flounder fishing Christmas and Cold Pass

If you kayak try these old places if you are in the area. They were great in their day and probably still are if you kayak. When I kayaked and the limit was 10 we used to sit there in Christmas where the Churchill channel starts to run into the bay and catch flounder ALL WINTER on an incoming. Lot o...

Re: Good Kayak rigging site

https://www.texassaltwaterfishingmagazine.com/ If you have all that kayak rigging work done then look at the magazine above. EJ and his boss Pam do a great job. I think it is 12 dollars a year for an electronic copy BUT the big deal is they have about 10 years or more in the Archives that you have a...

What to do with old fishing gear

I think that I started kayaking about the time Tom bought the board from Richard. 199 or 2000? I can remember a lot of things I have bought over the year. I am cleaning up my saltwater fishing gear and realize just how much old gear I have ended up with that I will probably never fish with again and...

Re: Does your Solunar App give you the correct times???

If you look at what EJ did then compare it to your Tides for fishing program you will see these things that do not match up. (Personally I like the site for every thing but the wrong Solunar Info.) For today at Jamaica Beach. Look at the chart and compare this to EJ's. Data from Tides for fishing Mo...

Does your Solunar App give you the correct times???

Which Solunar program do you use? Does it give you the correct information? It is amazing just how many do not have the correct data. Trivia: Did you know that John Alden came up with this concept and for each 12 miles east or west from where the chart was constructed for the time changes 1 minute +...

Ways to carry your kayaks

Someone asked how I carry kayaks for a long trip so here is a px on how they fit on my 16 ft Baby Cat. Very little gear is used fishing the big flats down south. Tie rope, claw anchor, rod, few baits, water, small boat not kayak drift sock, brick(s) or other weight to drag behind the boat to slow an...

Here is the old px I was sent 10-12 years ago on the above. If you look at the article you can see the bridge the airport access and where the buddy used to catch fish. If you went straight you can see 8 mile road in the difference. In the old days lots of people gigged from this access back to 8 mi...

Still around some of the time but more working than kayaking or fishing. :(

Some of us were here earlier but this is about the time Clay had the board crash the last big time and people had to register again iirc.
