Re: Frog Pattern

Nicely done Neumie. That's an awesome looking frog.
With those rabbit legs you'll definitely get a more subtle motion and action that bass love.
What size hook is that?

That's a awesome resource.
Not only extensive and thorough, but up to date.

Thanks for the heads up.
I'll be using it for trip planning.

Re: Village Creek Camping Report - April 22 - 24, 2022

Cool, an old school TKF camp report in the camping section. Thanks Neumie, great report. I miss these old camp reports. Maybe we can bring them back. I haven't made it to Village Creek yet myself. It's one of those must do Texas kayak trips, so I hope to at some point. Maybe an old school TKF invite...

Re: Is Tying a Necessary Evil, Something You Absolutely Enjoy, or Somewhere in Between?

One thing about Matt, If bought flies from him you knew he tied them. He has some proven patterns for sure. Matter of fact I was throwing a Lunch Money all day yesterday on the river. Though it was one that I tied, since I do like to tie. It’s fun to watch his sbs videos. Tips and tricks, like the w...

Re: Is Tying a Necessary Evil, Something You Absolutely Enjoy, or Somewhere in Between?

I really do enjoy tying. To me it’s part of the fun of fly fishing, making your own baits. I understand the inertia of getting started sometimes though, and finding the time to do it consistently can be a problem. You can get rusty in between if it’s to long. But for me it’s relaxing. Find some free...

Re: Weather Apps for on the Water

Good deal. Free always fits my budget. I'll get Myradar, and check out Darksky since it's free. I hate downloading to much stuff into my phone. I use Weather Underground on my desktop for everyday weather too. But like you said it's a pain to manipulate on the water, and it always ran slow on ...

Weather Apps for on the Water

I've gotten a new, more powerful phone and I'm looking for a good weather app. Mainly I want a good radar to see storms and rain coming and going while I'm on the river. I have used Weather Underground (through the website, not their app), but always seemed to start and run slow. I want to quickly s...

Re: Announcement: TKF will continue on!

Great to hear. I spent the last week downloading old photos and printing out old camping reports. Thanks for keeping 'er running Neumie. I still fish and camp regularly with people I've meet through TKF. Though I haven't posted in forever, I still check it out every few days, for years. I'll try and...

Good deal Larry, hopefully a few others will join us. I'll be watching conditions and we'll plan accordingly.
I have that whole week off so if we need to move the date around a little we can, but for now let's plan for the 17th.
I'll be in touch.

Re: #whereareyourfeet overnighter for On The Guad

The river is slowly coming down as the LCRA is shutting off flood gates. After a couple weeks at 30000 cfs it'll be interesting to see what it looks like now. I think by the 17th it will be fishable and campable, just not sure what sure what it'll look like and I probably won't get a chance to scout...

Re: #whereareyourfeet overnighter for On The Guad

You know, Robert actually helped coin the name " Hog Island". Him and his wife did a Mother's Day camp trip back in 2010 and had an encounter with the hogs. It's chronicled here in this old report. It's a classic for sure. http://www.texaskayakfisherman.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=1...

Very sorry to hear. I always loved fishing and camping with Robert. I went to an old Colorado report just now and there he is, holding up a big bass like always. He usually caught the biggest fish of the day. Godspeed my friend. we need to do a trip in his honor ... That's a great idea Larry. And f...

Re: Colorado River Map

I've been wanting to make a big map like that myself. I'm not sure of the exact process, but I've seen people do that with Google Maps printed out. You can get wide format prints made pretty reasonablly. With a little research it should be pretty easy to do. When I get a man cave again, I'm going to...

Re: River Dawg Roundup!!!

After watching the weather two days I see a 50% chance of scattered storms so I am calling the trip a go!!! I'm a "rain or shine" type myself. We might get a shower or two, but the bulk of the rain should be Sunday afternoon. It won't rain around here for six months, but call a River Dawg...

Cool Larry, a blast from the past.
I don't know how many cool people I've met on these trips, a lot; including you Larry.
Come out and camp with me again soon.

Btw, I heard a rumor that there might be a Freeze Trip in the works this winter.

Re: Colorado River Open Invite

I think we will definitely encounter a thunderstorm. I don't think the river will get on a big rise, and I don't think we would get more than about an inch of rain. What concerns me the most is lightning. You know, we could get out at the 969 bridge if we appear to be in a pickle. That would allow ...

Re: Colorado River Open Invite

Spring weather, you never know. The local stations are showing 50%-60% "on and off showers" with the heaviest stuff on Sunday, mostly latter. Lately we've been getting less rain than forecasted.
Friday looks pretty good and early Sat. We could do one night if we wanted to avoid Sunday.

I too am watching the weather. If there is not the heavy stuff, then I'm good. I guess we'll just have to watch and see what happens. How about you others? I don't think there's going to be anything heavy. Local stations are forecasting 30%-40% right now. Doesn't like a lot of rain at any one time ...

I've been watching the weather, the forecast has changed three times this morning though. We should have a good idea of what it'll be by Wednesday. Bring some rain gear, it shouldn't be enough to hurt anything but it will probably rain some during the trip.
