HELP! I need a pic of the Welcome to Aggieland Water Tower

My wife and I are having an anniversary next month. I am trying to put together a photo collage blanket that represents our story (she is a sucker for that kind of stuff). We moved to College Station about a week after we got married for me to go to grad school. Obviously this is a big moment in our...

Re: The Great Outdoors books and movies thread..

Movies: 1. Jeremiah Johnson - this one is obvious... 2. Last of the Mohicans 3. A River Runs Though It 4. Legends of the Fall - you just have to look past Brad Pitt 5. Pale Rider - technically a western and not an "outdoor" movie, but it has some great scenery Books: 1. Into the Wild 2. Go...

Re: How to Introduce a Kid to Hunting

First suggestion....relax. :) and be patient. Good advice!!! :D My dad also started us off with a bb gun. I am from the panhandle and we only hunted fowl. The first year we went into the field we were not allowed to carry a firearm. The second we carried an unloaded gun. If we showed we had the mat...

How to Introduce a Kid to Hunting

I think my son is getting old enough (4yrs) I can start taking him hunting. He has gone to the lease with me previously to shoot and just have fun stomping around. My question is how do you introduce them to the actual hunt? How do you explain the kill to them? It's hard to make a young one grasp th...

Re: Colorado River - Bastrop to Plum Park (LOTS of Pics!)

Wow, I am not sure how I missed this report. Great report and great pics. Love the canoe and traveling with the pooch. I have not done that stretch and it looks awesome. Are you interested in paddling from Austin or Weberville all the way to the mouth sometime this winter if it comes a significant ...

Re: WRC strips

" an attractive wood after it's been finished. IMHO " I agree but so is WRC that can be found quite inexpensively in a variety of colors to give contrast, I will buy any size that I can that is clear (no knots), I prefer to scarf my strips but butt joints are less work ( not that much les...

Re: Report:Trinity River 105 to 90 *Updated w/ Pics link

I spent a summer chasing alligator gar back in college. The thing I learned is you rarely actually got hook penetration, their snouts are solid bone. What finally worked for me was to let them chew on it for at least 60 seconds, then SLOWLY tighten the line and then MAINTAIN tension. I caught a bunc...

I'm loaded Just a suggestion, but I would wait until you weren't loaded to get on the road  On another note, momma had a doctors appointment yesterday. Looks like our little girl could come at any time over the next two weeks. I think Ben and I are going to have to bow out of this trip. I wou...

Re: Colorado River Dawgs 4th Annual Fall Run

SHUTTLE SERVICE CHANGED: I've changed the plans on the shuttle service and got a better price from a $20 /ea (non-negotiable, lol) to $5 / person....but (like the others) their times for reservations will need to be strict and we MUST have our vehicle's at Fisherman's Park and ready to shuttle back...

Assuming y'all don't mind kiddos, my 3.5 yr old and I are in. I will also understand if y'all want to keep it an adults only kinda trip. :D Cute age. Ought to provide us some entertainment, lol! Will be nice to see you again -- haven't since you took the new pirouge you'd built out to Stubblefield....

Old Town Pack for $750 at Cabellas

Stopped by the Cabellas in Buda this weekend and they had a brand new Old Town Pack for $750. If I wasn't at least a little scared of my wife it would have gone home with me

Good stuff!!!

You will want to address the seat sooner rather than later, I speak from experience... One of the things I considered was putting some strips of fiberglass on the bottom part of the seat, just a thought.

Re: Building an Abenaki...

Google "2X4 truck canoe rack". I used something similar the first few years for transporting my Merlin. I actually used the super cheap 2X2 lumber to build mine, I think I had less than $25 in the whole thing. It worked fine but you need to make sure you do a good job securing it to the be...

Re: Canoe repair

Post some pics so we can get a better idea of what you are up against. If it is plastic there may be better ways than fiberglass to patch.
